Disable Windows Defender Automatic Operations

Microsoft Windows Defender (formally known as Windows AntiSpyware) is a security technology that helps protect Windows users from spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Known spyware on your PC can be detected and removed.
Why Windows Defender Is Essential:
This helps reduce negative effects caused by spyware, including slow PC performance, annoying pop-up ads, unwanted changes to Internet settings, and unauthorized use of your private information. Continuous protection improves Internet browsing safety by guarding more than 50 ways spyware can enter your PC.

Windows Defender In Vista:
Windows Defender is integrated into the Security Center in the Spyware Protection section by default, as shown in Figure below.
This will provide your computer with protection against spyware right out of the box. However, like the Firewall and Virus Protection, you'll be able to replace Windows Defender with a third-party antispyware utility if you wish.

In actuality, this built-in malware protector from Microsoft is very poor at protecting your computer from external threats. You are much better off using a 3rd-party software program like Norton for total protection.
Warning: It is adviced not to disable Windows Defender If you dont have any other malware or spyware protector.
Steps To Disable Automatic Windows Defender Operations:
  1. Click the Start button
  2. Type “services” into the Start Search box (Know How To Use Start Menu Search Box)
  3. Find Windows Defender in the list of programs
  4. Double-click on Windows Defender
  5. Choose Tools from the top menu
  6. Select Options
  7. Uncheck Auto Start at the bottom of the window
Note: Windows Defender real-time protection against malware continues to run despite having Automatic operation disabled.  Again my advice is not to disable Windows Defender If you dont have any other malware or spyware protector.
