This problem can occur due to a wrong registry value. If you have tried any other solution from other websites, and if that works for you that is fine. If none has helped you, try this.

Before editing any registry values, try to backup your registry.
1: Uninstall Your Office System.
2: And Go To Regedit (Start - Run - RegEdit) Windows vista and windows 7 users click here to know how to use your run prompt.
3. And go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\
4. Delete The Entry 12.0 for office 2007 ( or what ever 11.0 for Office 2003 etc..depends upon your office version.)
5. Restart your machine.
6. And now install your microsoft office software from the begining.

Hope, this will solve your problem now.
