Determine Whether You Are Logged On To Windows With An Administrator Account

If this is your personal computer, you are likely already logged on with an administrator account. If this is a computer that is part of a network at work, you might have to ask the system administrator for help.
Changing the windows registry settings requires you must be logged on with an administrator account.

To determine whether you are logged on with an administrator account, follow these steps:

1. Open the Date and Time Properties dialog box. Here are the steps if you need them:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. Type the following command (or copy it and paste it) in the Open box, and then press ENTER: timedate.cpl
Or you can simply double click the time on the bottom right corner of the screen
2. Do one of the following, depending on the behavior that you see after you press ENTER.
  • If the Date and Time Properties dialog box opens, You are logged on as an administrator.
Close the Date and Time Properties dialog box, and then you are ready to continue with this task.
  • If you receive a message that you cannot change the system time
If you received the following message, you are not logged on as an administrator:  You do not have the proper privilege level to change the system time.

Therefore, to continue with this task, you must first log off, and then log back on to Windows by using an administrator account. If you do not know how to log back on to Windows by using an administrator account, you will have to ask someone for help. If this computer is part of a network at work, you can ask the system administrator for help.

But if this is a personal computer that is not part of a network, you must know the password for an administrator account on your computer. Otherwise, this content cannot help you any further.
