GTA 4 Crashes On Windows 7 With SecuLauncher Error

Grand Theft Auto 4 is not working on windows 7:  rand Theft Auto 4 has received many awards since its release and has gained immense popularity. It sold more then 3.6 million copies worldwide on the first day of its release while grossing more then $500 Million in its first week.

There have been few reports that after installing GTA 4 the game does not start or just hangs with a black screen. And even the compatibility fails to work for Grand Theft Auto 4.

Ones it was installed, it came to a black screen. I have tried the compatibility settings as Windows XP (service pack 2) on windows 7 it still does not work. i click start the program using service pack 2 windows XP on my Windows7.

Then a message: it says: SecuLauncher: Failed to launch application.[2000]. The problem is not the game nor it is Windows 7 Compatibility. The Cause of SecuLauncher.exe Error can be any one of the following:

  • Damaged swap file
  • Corrupt file allocation
  • Broken password list
  • Invalid Windows Registry
  • Low disk space
  • Invalid SecuLauncher.exe file
  • Missing SecuLauncher.exe file
  • Hardware malfunctioning, over clocking, ground bounce, and RF noise
  • Improper BIOS Settings
  • Incorrectly installed third party software

GTA 4 works fine in Windows 7. No need for 'compatibility' settings. The main issue was getting through the on line registration. Once done the game will work well. But the game mainly depends on the system requirement.

GTA 4 Minimum System Requirements

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz or equivalent AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
  • Memory/RAM: 1GB for XP and 1.5GB for Vista
  • Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 or 256MB ATI X1900
  • Hard Disk Space: 16GB free
  • Operating System: Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1

GTA 4 Recommended System Requirements

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz or equivalent AMD Phenom X3 2.1GHz
  • Memory/RAM: 2.5 GB for XP or Vista
  • Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 or 512MB ATI 3870
  • Hard Disk Space: 18GB free
  • Operating System: Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1
  • I don't recall if I needed the Visual C+++ Redistribution or not, but if the error message says you need it then you download it and install it.

If you cant run the game successfully, something might be corrupt. Or it could be something went wrong with the download/install of the game.
