Nokia N9 Leaves Way To Nokia Windows Phone 7 | Check What You Get For Your Country

The Nokia N9 certainly made a great first impression and a lot of people are eager to get their hands on it. That's why Nokia put up a webpage, that should help you find out when the device becomes available in your area. Interestingly though, the Finns seems to have no plans of releasing the Nokia N9 in some of the biggest markets in the world. Some of the countries, which will surprisingly miss on the MeeGo smartphone are USA, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada etc.

Incidentally those countries are the ones rumored to be in the first wave to get the Nokia first Windows Phone 7 (WP7) -powered device –(Nokia's first Window Phone device codenamed Sea Ray) the Sea Ray. It seems that Nokia doesn't want its two flagships competing against each other.

You can check out this link to see if your country will be getting some MeeGo love from Nokia or not. And don't forget that even if it's not you can always import the handset from elsewhere (though that will probably result in a price increase).

This action from Nokia clearly stated why they were not going for MeeGo. Elop's (CEO Of Nokia) decision is logical, but would prove to be challenging. No one can really tell if Nokia's decision to go Windows Phone 7 (WP7) will set them right, but this seems to be the better choice than MeeGo. Well, it also states that Nokia will be doing improvements on the WP7 as well so this will prove to be interesting. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

As of now, there is not much application for Windows Phone 7, I mean, there are not much. Windows Phone 7 (WP7) brings something different. Apps that run on Windows Phone 7 (WP7) can be made to resemble the look and feel of the UI and are deeply integrated. Once sales of Windows Phone 7 (WP7) picks up, developers will start developing for the platform because they are money driven.

What’s great about the Nokia N9 is that it runs Meego, its the UI and QT. The UI is Nokia’s property and is probably written in QT. Elop has stated severally that Nokia intends to advance on that UI in subsequent device. That can't be on Windows Phone 7 (WP7) and neither on s40 as it would require hardware that won't fit in the range.

I am convinced Nokia is working on a new OS with QT compatibility as at core. why else do you think they made a whole Manual on the n9 UI?

Qt  is a cross-platform application framework that is widely used for developing application software with a graphical user interface (GUI) (in which cases Qt is classified as a widget toolkit), and also used for developing non-GUI programs such as command-line tools and consoles for servers. It is produced by Nokia's Qt Development Frameworks division, which came into being after Nokia's acquisition of the Norwegian company Trolltech, the original producer of Qt

One should never forget that Elop took charge as CEO of Nokia when no others would dare, and if he thinks Symbian and Meego is not going to save Nokia, that would only means that he has done his research forehand. Elop is doing what he thinks is the best for Nokia, and any one in his positions will also do the same thing regardless of what others saying.

He knows what he is doing is not for his own interest or Microsoft, he is trying to save and bring back the glorious time when Nokia Is the king in mobile business, well not so kingly in this present time, and he will do it even it means he would disregards Symbian and Meego which is a burning platform.

And most Nokia fans do not or will not understand and appreciate what Elop is doing. To them, he is a a Trojan, a traitor, and even worst. And this decision for Nokia paints Elop's true character and how he tries to steer Nokia into the right direction.

One should really understand what's truly going with Nokia. Even I can only give my opinion on this, and it is up to you people to decide what could be the real plan of Nokia.

And feel free to check out The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nokia N9.

I remember when Nokia 7650 was launched they destroy all the competitors on the market. In that time Samsung and all the others tried to put a polyphonic ringtone to their phones and Nokia made a real smartphone.

Look at how many xbox 360 sold? And how many of those are willingly playing for xbox live accounts? And how many of those fanboys would be willing to get a WP7 with xbox live just to enjoy COD, Halo, and maybe Bad Company 3 during their lunchbreak at work or at school.. Millions of potential gamers...
