Error 0x80131700 Loading Troubleshooting Wizard | Fix Crashing Troubleshooting Wizard

The following article will explain how to fix if your Windows 7 Troubleshooting Wizard does not start.

If you experience this kind of problem that none of your Troubleshooting wizard starts to work. And even if you manually attempt to use the wizard you will see the following error message.

"An unexpected error has occurred.  The trouble shooting wizard can't continue."  Some times you will see (0x80131700) error code in advanced dialog box. So, what is the cause and what is the solution for this problem or error 0x80131700.


Error code 0x80131700 is usually relevant to the old version of .NET Framework installed on your system. By default, the built-in version of Micorosoft .NET Framework is 3.5.1. You can reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 through the following steps:

1) Click  the Start and type: features in the Search box.

2) Select "Turn Windows Features on or off " and click Enter.

3) Find Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and uncheck the box.

4) Restart the computer.

5) Repeat the step 1) to step 2.

6) Check the box before Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.

7) Restart the computer.

If you still face problem, you can either download the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 package and install it or you can download the latest Microsoft .NET Framework package from this location.
