iPod, iPod nano, and iPod mini can be restored to work with Macintosh or Microsoft Windows computers.

If configured for a Mac, the iPod will be restored as Mac OS Extended (HFS Plus). If configured for Windows, the iPod will be restored as FAT32.

And this article applies to iPod, iPod mini, iPod nano which will let you find the disk format of your iPod.

Checking your iPod disk format

To determine if your iPod has been restored for Macintosh or Windows, do this:

• On your iPod, select Settings > About. If you're using an older iPod with older iPod software (such as iPod Software 1.x), select Settings from the main menu.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the screen.

If your iPod disk is configured for Macintosh, the serial number is the last item you'll see listed in the About screen. If the disk is configured for Windows, the last item you'll see is "Format: Windows."

You cannot use an iPod whose disk is configured for Macintosh on a Windows-compatible computer. However, you can restore the iPod disk to use it with a Windows-compatible computer. About the iPod nano disk format

When you connect iPod nano to a Macintosh computer for the first time, you'll see this dialog:

How to restore iPod

When using Windows 7's File Explorer to upload or open graphics files in other apps. Thumbnails are very handy in seeing at a glance that do we have the right picture. Windows 7 Initially supported PNG, JPG, and even PDF thumbs are supported, but not PSD.

We need to rely on a third party solution. A programmer from Adobe has answered that Microsoft has the PSD documentation and this implies that the ball is in their court.  I hope a Microsoft tech can pass this concern on or give me a reason why it can't happen at least in Windows 7.

PSD is as common as PDF and it has been around as long. The reason psicon.dll was dropped was over "file locking" issues with Windows.

Apple has been able to add support for PSDs in Quick Look without relying on Adobe, and MSFT has the PSD format documentation. That's not to say Adobe shouldn't step up, too. I guess Microsoft just haven't been able to find time to fix this issue during the release of Windows 7.

In the latest versions of Adobe Photoshop with the inclusion of Adobe Bridge the thumbnail view of PSD files within the windows explorer is no more present, This can be really difficult if you intent to see preview of the file you need to open the Adobe Bridge in order to view the preview, which consumes a lot of RAM.

Solution:

PSD thumbnails be displayed in Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I guess that Microsoft has answered this issue in their Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Release as I can view the thumbnails of PSD Files in Windows 7 Ultimate -Service Pack 1. If you are using Windows 7, and it is time to update to Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

The N97 has the same CPU and RAM with Nokia C6, 5800, 5530, X6 and 5230.
You hate your flagship phone huh? It's even released after 5800 with more expensive price.

So why did 5800 got the update while n97 not?

Nokia C6-00 and Nokia 5230 are already eligible for the update, while the rest of the Smartphone's will get it in the next few weeks. So make sure you have the software update auto check switched on in your phone.

Now with this update the above said Nokia Phone Users can have a much better browsing experience, upgraded OVI Maps, and emoticons in messaging. This is just another reason why Nokia has lots of fans.

Microsoft is not  going to include a list of every single bug/issue that they fixed. As said above, their Service Pack is a roll-up of all previously released updates. It means that the service pack includes all hotfixes released to date. Both those released publically (ie. Windows update) and those only available on request.

Please note that this is not a slipstreamed installation, it simply chains the updater to the end of the install routine. A slipstream would integrate the SP1 files into the CAB archives so that the files would only be installed once, saving time. This update is only when you have already installed Office 2010 Application in your system.

This article will let you fix to slow performance of Windows System after the Installation of Service Pack 1.

One of my fried has mailed me that his Windows 7 (HP dv6-1253cl) Pc started to perform too slow once he installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1 from Microsoft. And all his programs in his Windows 7 machine takes longer to start up, compared to the day before installing Windows 7 Service Pack.

But does Windows 7 Service Pack slows down the PC?  Actually, Windows 7 Service pack and other Windows Updates are released to improve the performance, reliability and security of the system.

If your system is slowing down means, there could be several causes why you are experiencing performance issue on your computer.

If you have installed any additional software after the installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, that can also be a problem, or there can be some conflict between the drivers and may be even with other software's that are already installed.

Well, do not try uninstalling the Service Pack 1, doing that will not remove all the updates related to Service Pack 1. Tons of updates wont be removed.

You may need to perform a System Restore to completely get back to the situation where Service Pack has not been installed. And to do so,

• 1. Type “System Restore” on start menu search.

• 2. right click on the result “System Restore” and click “Run as Administrator”
• 3. Give Yes if any pop up window appears. If you are not an Administrator, you will be asked to enter the administration user name and password.
• 4. There you will get a Windows as the below screen shot and you have to choose the date prior to installing Service Pack 1.

• 5. Follow the on screen instruction.
• 6. Restart Your System.

However, the above step will take you to the positon before installing Service Pack 1 for Windows 7. However, we cant be sure that the same problem wont arrise when you install the Windows Update Again. So, the best idea is to troubleshoot the exact problem. And To troubleshoot and solve this issue try the following steps:

If everything works fine after a clean boot, you can infer that some third party services are causing the problem.

Proceed with the remaining steps to pin-point out the third party service.

BlackBerry is a line of mobile e-mail and smartphone devices developed and designed by Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM) since 1999.

BlackBerry phones function as a personal digital assistant and portable media player. They are primarily known for their ability to send and receive (push) Internet e-mail wherever mobile network service coverage is present, or through Wi-Fi connectivity. They support a large array of instant messaging features, including BlackBerry Messenger.

You don’t want to configure your Blackberry very often just like how we need to do to other smart phones every time we change the network. However, for some reasons we need to reset the BlackBerry.

Many BlackBerry users already know that the best way to do a reset on the BlackBerry is to unplug the battery. There is also another way to reset the Blackberry that is by doing a soft reset. Soft reset can be done using third party application or by pressing three keys on the Blackberry, the ALT, SHIFT and DEL right. Soft reset is preferred because Blackberry users do not need to remove the battery, especially if the device wrapped in a casing. For users of Storm and Pearl reset can only be done by using a hard reset.

Why Not Soft Reset:

Soft reset is not really a good way to reset or restart the Blackberry. Soft here means the device is reset by using the Software. While the hard reset, which is done by pulling the battery, meaning the device is reset by the way broken hardware connections. This is similar to a Windows PC. On Windows, to do a soft reset can be done by pressing the CTRL, ALT and DEL simultaneously. As for hard reset can be done by doing a shut down or pressing the reset button, or on a laptop can press the power button a little longer.

So which one is better? That’s up to us. If indeed we are lazy to unplug the battery, please do a soft reset. But if you soft reset does not work in terms of reducing memory, trying to do a hard reset

A hard disk drive (HDD) is a non-volatile, random access digital data storage device. It features rotating rigid platters on a motor-driven spindle within a protective enclosure. Data is magnetically read from and written to the platter by read/write heads that float on a film of air above the platters.

When we buy a new hard drive, then before the hard drive can be used in advance we need to partition and reformat the hard drive. However with Operating Systems like Windows 7 we don’t need to perform this, as the process of formatting the hard disk is fully automatic. still its not a bad idea to know how and what actually happens earlier.

Partitioning a hard disk is divided by the size of the hard drive into several logical parts. For example if we want our hard drives so that later on there are 3 pieces of the drive (i.e. Drive C, D and E) then we need partition into 3 parts. While the format the hard drive is the initialization process and provide a file system on the hard disk so the disk can be used by the operating system. For example for the Windows operating system we can format the hard drive with FAT or NTFS file system.

Please note that, you can use both FAT and NTFS for Windows XP, where as Windows 7 Its mandatory and you have no choice than to format it in NTFS.

Some of the reasons why a hard drive needs to be partitioned are as follows:

• To further facilitate the organization of files, for example a single partition to store the operating system and application programs, a second partition for data storage and a third partition for data backup.

If you are serious about Backup, you cant backup your files on the same partition where the Operating System resides. For better safety, use different disk for Backing up of Data.

• Splitting a single operating system with another operating system if we intend to install more than one operating system.
• Improve the performance of your computer (hard disk access time), especially for large-sized hard drive.

There are several types of partitions that we can create on your hard drive are:

Primary Partition

Partitions are commonly used as a storage operating system. In this there is a primary partition boot partition that stores the files needed to start up the operating system. A hard disk can be partitioned into a maximum of 4 pieces without the extended partition primary partition, or a maximum of 3 pieces of primary partition if there is an extended partition.

Extended Partition

Is a partition boundary between the primary partition and logical partition. In the Extended partition can consist of one or more logical partition. Extended partition is not a drive but only limiting it.

Logical Partition

Logical partition Is part of the Extended Partition and used as data storage.

To partition a hard drive we can use several ways, among which:

• Partitioning a hard disk when installing the Operating System.
• Using the Disk Management tool of Windows.
• Using a disk partition management programs such as EASEUS Partition Master.

Hard Disk Drive were Introduced by IBM in 1956, as technology advances, hard disk drives have fallen in cost and physical size over the years while dramatically increasing in capacity.

Hard disk drives have been the dominant device for secondary storage of data in general purpose computers since the early 1960s.

And here it comes - Nokia's first Window Phone device codenamed Sea Ray (possibly the W8-00): The device is very similar to the recently announced Nokia N9, but has a dedicated hardware camera key, different LED placement and, of course, it is running on Windows Phone 7 with the Mango update.

Finally, Nokia has at least one sweet-looking Windows Phone 7 smartphone in the pipeline. We'll have to wait more for the official announcement and see if there will be another device to join it.

We are not sure if this is the only one Windows Phone device from Nokia. Roomers are there that they be around 3 or 4 WP7 Nokia Phones, it seems they will do the same as S40/S60 series, some cheaper some expensive.

Even they are already working on a dual core version and it’s a welcome one for Nokia. Let's see what's going on on near future but for now this look brilliant. By the way, Microsoft is already working on Windows Phone 8, so, maybe we will see new things to come.

Windows Phone 7 is the best thing ever. So fluid, so fast, so intuitive. The only reason you will hate Windows Phone 7 is when you really hate Microsoft. What ever, this product is great.

If you have XBOX, Zune, Windows 7 PC and others you will never be bored of Windows Phone 7 OS . In fact the new apps that are released for Windows Phone 7 devices and are cool, even the bingo maps are working great with 3d perspectives.

Windows Phone 7 OS for Nokia Is smooth, quick, easy to use with full flash support and you will have a great internet experience on Windows Phone 7. And added more, the Flash and multimedia browser is incredible, the integration with internet perfect and many many more...Even the restrictions aren't making this OS look bad. One can prefer Nokia Windows Phone over Meego for too many reasons, but the main is the support and apps (Applications). That's the kind of things that makes Android and iOS a great systems.

Maybe there's people that like more open source software, but Microsoft has great efforts on bring a good experience on this Windows Phone OS.

Having windows mobile will be a great benefit in terms of synchronization and other stuff to your Widows operated system. Remember, only if you are using Windows Operating System for your Personal Computer, this will be a added advantage, otherwise not that much.

If you want to use your phone properly, there is no way around but uploading all your contacts to your Hotmail account! This, for sure, makes it less likely that the WP7 platform will become attractive for business users since this is a security risk.

What matter is that we got to see first Nokia WP7 handset a few months ahead of its official announcement. Were you can even play the Xbox 360 games as it has the Xbox live features and all that other xbox stuff. Could even beat xperiaplay.

The combination of two market leaders (Nokia & Windows) will benefit the two companies to formulate the best UI (User Interface) and software's that we need. On the whole, Nokia has now made every one hard to decide between Meego or window phone 7. Their both phone looks hot, and the OS is all amazing.

I only hope the Nokia Windows Phone are affordable, other wise Android powered Samsung, LG, Motorola or HTC, will always look more attractive.

Mangoes are apparently good for mobile web browsers – the Internet Explorer 9 that comes with the Mango update for Windows Phone 7 beat Mobile Safari and the Android Browser at a hardware-accelerated graphics rendering test, demonstrated at MIX11.

The test at hand is HTML5 Speed Reading – it uses a Canvas element to draw an animation. The Canvas element gives JavaScript a lot of flexibility when it comes to drawing and is often used in HTML5 games (ones that often claim to be as good as Flash but with no actual Flash required).

The test offers a frame rate counter, which reveals a startling difference. The test was run simultaneously on an HTC Trophy, Google Nexus S and an iPhone 4 (actually, the iPhone had a head start).

The Windows Phone 7 browser goes at a breezy 20fps, the Android Browser manages 11fps or so, while Mobile Safari chugs along at just 2fps. Again, this test measures Canvas drawing performance, rather than general browsing speed, or JavaScript performance and such.

Even more interesting fact is its look at the new version of IE 9 for cell phones running on Redmond’s platform. Recent changes includes GPU acceleration and improved rendering, but there a drawback that this IE9 will not support any kind of Flash or its videos or even embedded HTML5 clips, which is mainly due to the Microsoft’s desire to keep upgrading the things. This feature for WP7 is not just good, but great. However, I'm quite worried that some sort of techie stuffs like this one won't matter to a when people don't even care to know the specifications of a handset. They just want an easy-to-use cellular phone. That is why iPhone is very popular among consumers nowadays.

Windows Phone 7 is already better than most Mobile Operating System comparing the stage of development.

But in the past there were few restrictions according to the users, and we have no idea if those restriction's have been removed in Windows Phone 7.

If you are going to buy a mobile with Windows 7, then you need to check the following…

• See if you have the system-wide file manager
• Does Windows Phone 7 support USB mass storage mode. USB mass storage mode will be available if you make a one time very small registry tweak on Zune through the PC.
• Is there any possibility in Windows Phone 7 for installing third-party apps or support to third party application availability
• Does Windows Phone 7 has Flash or Silverlight support in the browser. We know,  Flash support is possible in the Dolphin browser as well is separate YouTube tile.
• Does it have video calls
• New ringtones available. In the past, for Windows Phone this is possible only through Windows  Marketplace
• Does the Music player on Windows Phone 7 has or supports equalizer presets. If you are using HTC, you can have choice between equalizer, Dolby Mobile or SRS WOW Enhancement in phone with HTC Sound Enhancer (only on HTC WP7 phones)
  
• Does Windows Phone 7 support multitasking
• Is  it possible to use copy and paste options in Windows Phone 7
• DivX/XviD video support (Actually, automatic transcoding provided by Zune software). This is possible only if Windows Phone supports mass storage transfer.
• Free Bing maps Navigation
• Internet tethering support. You can have Internet tethering support through HTC Hub (only on HTC WP7 phones)

Everything goes through Zune for Windows Phone 7 means that you can't use it as flash drive, you can't exactly modify the User Interface (UI). Nevertheless, for someone that looks hard for smooth and fast web browsing experience on phones, this is a great news.

A huge high-res screen, a new chipset expected to deliver beyond anyone's wildest hopes and 1080p video recording: the LG Optimus 3D sounds like a great package and we haven't even started yet. These are big ones no doubt, but not even close enough to making the headline. Not with a stereoscopic screen and a couple of 3D video-recording cameras at the back.

Having beaten all the competition to bring the first dual-core smartphone to the market, LG is now racing to get to the 3D checkpoint ahead of HTC. Read here for the pluses and minuses of LG Optimus 2X.

There's a world of difference between a mid-distance TV viewing and a close-range phone. We have understood the difference between the Actual TV and the small mobile device, and taking all that into account this review is prepared.

LG Optimus 3D using paralax effect but how will it be different this time around. We are yet to feel and see this one. And will it last? As few people have expressed their dis regret on 3D Model.

On the 3D note, Few have reported that they get a headache after using the 3D camera for more than five or ten minutes due to the way it displays the picture. The 3D content on the LG Optimus 3D is much better, with clearer images that are far less brash.

Meego is really good but now they are not supporting it fully. So what if it catches on this 3D and lets say 50 million people like it but then manufacturers cease production as technology moves ahead.

As of now, this mobile is awful to get something you like and its a one off. I really hope this smartphone succeeds and slowly 3D becomes quite commonplace.

As most of the other smart phones, LG Optimus 3D also lacks battery stand by time. I don't understand why cellphone companies release such powerful phones that barely last a day. If you are a gamer, you can play them for 30 minutes before my phone dies.

Seriously, LG Optimus 3D supports just 1500 MAH battery on a 3D phone is really a joke and  its not enough. Of course, the major problem with LG Optimus 3D is battery life. Though EVO 3D is not much better too. There must be some software upgrades to solve it or else u will need a 2000MAH battery to gain a happy face.

Its main advantage over HTC EVO 3d is its screen resolution. Since gingerbread Operating System and most of the android apps are not optimised for GHD resolution, LG Optimus 3D is better choice.

Note that, HTC is known for smart business class phones, they are not known for camera phones. Good old LG cookie snap gives better snaps than HTC Desire.

The Ram in LG Optimus 3D is dual channel 512X2 = 1024 it has best Ram in the phone market.

3D is simply a gimmick in LG Optimus 3D. However, not all movies are good watching at 3D. 3D-movies are cool once in a while, but most movies are not made for 3d Technology. And those have problems to fill TWO dimensions with something interesting.

80° of 3d viewing angle in LG Optimus 3D before it does the annoying hologram effect. Not the star wars hologram effect, its like one of those cards that change image as you look at it from a different angle. From what i saw, the 3d doesn't pop out, but it pops in like looking out of a window at the grand canyon.

What I like about this phone is 3D both capturing and viewing. And Dual Core, Dual Channel, and Dual memory. It will outperform all smartphone out there in market.

In this article we will see how to delete files and folders in Windows 7 (also in Windows Vista) when you are denied to delete them.

When you want to delete some of your old files as they may take up space on the computer's hard drive and will subsequently get to a error message that you do not have the authorization to delete them and that you would need to get permission from windows trusted installer.

Even if you own this particular computer you will be forced with this message. Now the question is "what do one have to do to change the permissions"?

Even if you try to change them through the properties of the afore mentioned program files, all options necessary to change them will be grayed out, making us unable to select them.  Why does one unable to change settings on my own computer when run as the administrator? 

Here is my step by step process for reclaiming the right to delete and move files. 

Warning: DO NOT change the permissions of the Windows folder using the following method. Should you need permissions to edit files in the Windows folder, change them individually.  Windows Backup can be irreparably (as far as I know) broken by such a change.  LEAVE THE WINDOWS FOLDER ALONE UNLESS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT FILE YOU NEED ACCESS TO.

• 1. Click the start menu and open Computer.
• 2. Click on the drive that contains the file you are trying to move/delete.
• 3. Right click on the folder that contains the file you are trying to move/delete. Select Properties.
• 4. Click on the Security tab.
• 5. Under the box containing the permissions each entity has, click on Advanced.
• 6. In the new Advanced Security Settings window, click on the Owner tab.
• 7. In the owner tab, click on the Edit button.
• 8. In the new window, you should see "Current Owner:" over a box with (most likely) trusted installer in it.  Under that you should see "Change Owner to:" followed by a short list of possible owners.

8a. If you see your username (listed as [Name] (My-PC\[Name])), then click on it and check the box below the Other users which says "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".

8b. If you do not see your username, click on the "Other users" button. From there, enter your username into the space provided and click Check names. The username you typed should then get underlined and expanded.  Then click Ok. From there follow step 8a.

• 9. Click Apply.
• 10. Now close all windows opened from the properties window and close the properties window.  Reopen it, and under the box entitled "Group or user names," Click Edit.
• 11. If you do not see your username, as chances are you won't, click add.  In the add window, type your username into the given space and click the Check names button. Your username should become underlined and expanded to include the computer name.  Then click OK. (I typically just click OK but if for some reason it doesn't work for you, at least you will know at what step you were tripped up.)
• 12. Upon clicking OK, the Select User or Groups window will close and you should see you username has joined the other names in the Group or User names box. Click it, and then check the "Full Control" check box lower down.  This will grant you complete permissions for everything except "Special Permissions".  This is normal, and so far I have not found a way to check that checkbox but it hasn't presented itself as a problem yet so I wouldn't worry about it.
• 13. Click Apply. You should see a window pop up saying "Changing Permissions" and file locations rapidly going by. This is normal and it means that the folder, subfolders, and files are having their permissions changed.

Alternatively, after closing and reopening the properties of the folder you want to change, you can click on the Advanced button again and then the Change Permissions button and follow similar steps once there.  This also allows you to create inheritable permissions. That is a whole new can of worms that I don't understand, so I just leave the checkboxes blank.

AGAIN, DO NOT CHANGE THE PERMISSIONS OF THE WINDOWS FOLDER. THIS COULD CAUSE A WHOLE HOST OF NEW PROBLEMS, ONE OF THEM BEING BROKEN WINDOWS BACKUP.

And if you want, you can completely remove Trusted Installer from the permissions.  I can't say what the benefit is, but it's satisfying. I hope this helps some of you.

Its a welcome news by Skype, just took you 2 years to make an iPad application. And we are finally being offered the choice to use an alternative to facetime and iChat.

After a leaked video accidentally spoiled the surprise, Skype has confirmed that it is preparing an iPad app for release. The application is ready to be approved soon by Apple for the App Store.

The video of Skype that leaked (embedded below) shows what looks to be a fairly impressive finished product. It takes full advantage of the iPad’s larger screen size, allowing users to make audio and video calls, and use text-based chat, as well as allowing users to chat via text while on a video call.

The iPad 2′s camera is the primary driving force behind the company’s decision to release an iPad-specific version of its iOS application.

Skype for iPad can make use of both of the iPad 2′s cameras, and also appears to support calling out to landlines and mobile phones, just like other mobile and desktop clients.

File Sharing Not Supported By Skype iPad:

File sharing isn’t included in the iPad version, but that’s because of the iPad’s lack of a user-accessible file system, and it’s not yet clear whether group video chat will be included in this iPad release.

The Skype app’s contact browser appears to work similar to the iPad’s music player app, with big square contact photos appearing in a grid configuration.

Having a native iPad client will be great for both video and voice communications on the iPad. FaceTime is nice, but it obviously has a much more limited reach because it only works with Apple hardware. Skype has the advantage of being multi-platform, and its VoIP capabilities are nothing to sneeze at, either. Look for it in the App Store in the near future.
