Running Windows 7 some times make your display off and on as you get a error message that “Display Driver Stopped Responding And Has Recovered”.

You will come across a short system freeze, a short blackout and after that every thing will start to work as normal. but you will get a small pop up command (as shown in the below screen shot) near the clock saying that “display driver stopped responding and has recovered”.

OK, one of the best and suggested solution of display driver problem is, to downloaded the most current driver from the company's Web site.  And to check if there is any update from your device (Mother board) manufacturer.

Display Driver Stopped Responding And Has Recovered How To Fix Error

Possible Solution:

Make sure you've got latest drivers. If you are using 64Bit Operating system make sure you have the driver that supports 64Bit Computing.

Before installations of new driver remember to uninstall old one first.

If you are sure that you have updated drivers and everything is fine with your device, then another possible reason may be, the motherboard is overheated. Normally there will be Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) as shown in the below screen shot but most of the time, Windows 7 react on that problem by resetting graphic card.

Display Driver Stopped Responding And Has Recovered How To Fix Error 2

Check Your CPU temperature with some third party software's like Lavalys Everest or HwMonitor. If temperature were too high use compressed air and clean out all the vents with force air. Laptop must be switched off and remove the battery before trying this out.

Minimum once per year I always recommend manual clean of heat sink and fan. You may try to do it also if compressed air won't help.

How to do it check Your service documentation if it's available on your Manufacturer site.

Warning! Do manual Service on your computers and Laptop only on your own risk and if you know what you are doing and also if your product is not supported by Warranty. If You still have warranty don't clean it manually on You will loose your loose your warranty.

WordPad is a basic word processor that is included in Windows. A word processor is a computer program that you can use to create, edit, view, and print text documents. With WordPad, you can type letters, book reports, and other simple documents. You can also change how the text looks, quickly move sentences and paragraphs around, and copy and paste text within and between documents. And you can follow this link to know how to use WordPad On Windows.

But, is there any way to use WordPad to start with a different font, font size and without the additional "10 point space after paragraph" setting.

I have read of the work-around were you create a template file and use that but here is what Microsoft has to say about this issue.

There are a couple of issues that still keep most of us looking for word pad:

First WordPad is on every Windows Operating System.

WordPad beats Word in some ways as it opens quickly and is great for viewing and editing XML files.

How To Change The Default Font Setting In WordPad

It also creates smaller documents when pasting screenshots and text. But I agree that Word 2010 does do a much better job in keeping files small than previous versions of Word.

Possible Solution:

WordPad is different with Microsoft Office Word. There is not configuration to set default font and size. That’s a by design with WordPad. You can use Microsoft Word instead of WordPad which can set default font.

Furthermore, there’s a same link which provide an option you can try:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/how-do-you-change-the-default-settings-on-wordpad-518819.html

Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by bench3, the link may change without notice. bench3 does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

It does seem odd that you are given the option to change the font and paragraph spacing once the document is open but not the default options; obviously the ability is there.

Since this is by design instruction, and if you have any suggestion of that, you can also contact Microsoft at the following location https://connect.microsoft.com/ to submit your suggestion. It will help other communities in future to get what you think to be good to you.

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a desktop delivery model, which allows client desktop workloads (operating system, application, user data) to be hosted and executed on servers in the data center.

Users can communicate with their virtual desktops through a client device that supports remote desktop protocols such as RDP and ICA. You may also be interested in knowing the Benefits Of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

Once you know that you could benefit from desktop virtualization, how to get started with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

To take advantage of desktop virtualization, organizations should start by identifying the business problems they are trying to solve and then understanding how different desktop virtualization solutions can address their specific business needs. Microsoft Desktop Virtualization is unique because it understands that one size does not fit all and aims to provide solutions across the entire desktop stack.

For scenarios in which organizations want to provide a personalized Windows experience across any connected or offline corporate PC and IT is looking to simplify management and accelerate deployment of corporate applications to users on demand, organizations should begin by adopting Microsoft App-V and User State Virtualization. Both technologies apply to every desktop as they work across all physical and virtual instances of Windows, running locally or hosted in the datacenter. And throughout the application lifecycle, App-V can save organizations 27 percent in labor, or $82 per PC annually.

Additionally, for scenarios in which enabling flexible access to Windows from multiple devices, centralized desktop management, and security and compliance, Microsoft recommends VDI and RDS Session Virtualization. Organizations can use both technologies for user-device flexibility and enable secure access from unmanaged-devices.

VDI is more beneficial when users need high level of personalization and operating system isolation, like in the case of doctors or financial advisors; whereas RDS session virtualization can provide users access to single or limited centrally hosted LOB applications with more scalability, like in the case of call center agents, insurance agents etc. Therefore, VDI and RDS Session Virtualization are good for every company but not necessarily for every desktop.

Customers can learn more about which of Microsoft’s desktop virtualization solutions would be right for their business on the virtualization site.

Desktop virtualization (sometimes called client virtualization), as a concept, separates a personal computer desktop environment from a physical machine using the client–server model of computing.

Virtual desktop infrastructure, sometimes referred to as virtual desktop interface (VDI) is the server computing model enabling desktop virtualization, encompassing the hardware and software systems required to support the virtualized environment.

Many enterprise-level implementations of this technology store the resulting "virtualized" desktop on a remote central server, instead of on the local storage of a remote client; thus, when users work from their local machine, all of the programs, applications, processes, and data used are kept on the server and run centrally. This allows users to run operating system and execute applications from a Smartphone or thin client which exceed the user hardware's ability to run.

Find Out If Desktop Virtualization Is Right For You

In my earlier post, we have seen what are the benefits of Virtual desktop infrastructure.  Now, how to say if the Desktop Virtualization is right for the situation? Well, that’s the next question to ask.

How To Find If Desktop Virtualization Is Right for You:

First and foremost, you know your user’s best. So I recommend you evaluate the “required” capabilities that users must have to perform their jobs and then look at virtualization as an enabler. That said, I do recommend every customer evaluating desktop virtualization ask themselves the following questions:

  • Do my users need to access information and applications when they are connected or disconnected from the network?
  • Do my users work with data that is sensitive and must be highly secured?
  • Do my users need to be able to customize their desktop so that if feels personal for them?
  • Do I need to consider how non-windows devices will access Windows applications?
  • Do my users need multiple windows environments (Dev.-Test Environment/ Business-Personal Environments)?

Based on those answers, you can start working on a desktop virtualization plan that works best for you and your workers unique needs.

If you ever find yourself emailing docs to the computer in the next room so you can print them, HomeGroup was designed for you. Now, you can easily connect two or more PCs running Windows 7 on your home network to automatically start sharing printers—and your media and document libraries—with other people in your home.

You can join a HomeGroup in any edition of Windows 7, but you can only create one in Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise editions.

Concerned about privacy? So does Microsoft. That’s why HomeGroup is password-protected and puts you in total control. You decide what gets shared—and what stays private. You can also make your files "read only," so other people can look at—but not touch—your stuff.

A HomeGroup is protected by a password. You can use the one created when you first set up the home group, or you can change it. If you ever forget your HomeGroup password, you can view it on any PC that's part of your HomeGroup by following the steps in Where can I find my HomeGroup password?

Understanding HomeGroup Privacy And Tips On Making HomeGroup Experience As Smooth As Possible

People who belong to a home network won't automatically belong to a HomeGroup . They need a computer running Windows 7, first of all. Then they need to have the HomeGroup password so that they can join the HomeGroup .

A Few Things To Remember: Here are a few reminders to make your HomeGroup experience as smooth as possible:

  • When using a HomeGroup , make sure all the HomeGroup PCs are turned on, connected to the network, and not sleeping or hibernating. It might seem pretty obvious that if a PC is turned off, you won't be able to access the shared files on it, but it's easy to forget that—it's happened to me before!
  • If you change the HomeGroup password, enter the new password on all the other HomeGroup PCs right away. That way, all the PCs stay "in sync." There are more tips like this in HomeGroup: frequently asked questions.
  • If you use a laptop from work when you're at home, be aware that domain-joined computers can join a HomeGroup and access files and printers shared by other people, but for security reasons they can't share their own files and printers.
  • If you ever have problems with a HomeGroup , use the HomeGroup troubleshooter to help resolve them. Open the HomeGroup troubleshooter explains how to do that. Also, in Windows Help and Support, you can find more information to help troubleshoot any problems you might encounter while using a HomeGroup .

If you face problem in Connecting or accessing your HomeGroup, you can may find the following articles relevant, Why can't I create a HomeGroup ? and Why can't I access my HomeGroup ?

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a desktop delivery model, which allows client desktop workloads (operating system, application, user data) to be hosted and executed on servers in the data center. Users can communicate with their virtual desktops through a client device that supports remote desktop protocols such as RDP and ICA.

This solution allows you to virtualize Windows® desktops in the datacenter and deliver them on demand to any user — anywhere.

Benefits:

  • If you’re tired of struggling with the complexity and cost of distributed desktop management, you’re not alone. Desktop virtualization will revolutionize the way you manage and deliver desktops and allow you to dramatically streamline  your desktop lifecycle management.

Benefits Of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

  • Deliver a high definition user experience by dynamically assembling each user’s unique desktop from pristine components — operating system, applications, and user profiles — and leveraging Citrix HDX technologies each time they log on
  • Improve security by centralizing desktop and data management in the datacenter
  • Reduce desktop TCO by up to 40%

Below is an excerpt from a recent press release from Citrix. The entire press release can be viewed at the Citrix web site.

This model is so much simpler. I just push a button centrally, and it’s done,” said Charles Kanavel, director of technology for Campbell Union High School District. “That simplicity leads directly to cost savings. Using Citrix XenDesktop, our savings on this year’s replacement cycle is $250,000. That includes the infrastructure and all the pieces behind the desktop that make it all work. But that’s just the beginning of the realized savings – we’re extending the lifecycles of our computers and can now effectively turn any old machine into a low-cost thin client. And because of Citrix’s HDX technology, we’re able to do all this while giving students a rich, high-definition experience, even with older PCs and laptops.”

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) partners for this solution include Citrix XenDesktop and Streaming Services, Microsoft AppV, and VMware.

Passwords ensure the security and confidentiality of data that is stored on various workstations and servers across campus. Some of this data includes student and employee names and addresses, grades, evaluations, timetables, payroll etc.

It is your responsibility as a user, to make sure that all your account passwords are as difficult to guess as possible.

Did you know:

  • a weak password can allow viruses to gain access to your computer and spread through the network if you are connected to a network
  • an easy-to-guess password can allow hackers to use your computer to hack into other computers connected to your network
  • these same hackers could use your e-mail account to send malicious messages to everyone in your address book, Inbox and others
  • you could be held legally responsible for any damage caused by someone using your account.
Choosing the right password

Importance of Passwords Points To Consider While Creating A Password

Don’t use the following while creating a password… (Don'ts…)

  • previously employed passwords or variations of them
  • proper names,
  • words from the dictionary,
  • common character sequences such as “123456”, mar2004
  • derivatives of user-IDs,
  • personal details such as variations of your own name, your spouse’s and pet’s names, license plate numbers, social insurance numbers, and birthdates

Things to do while creating a password (Do… )

  • create passwords that are at least 8 characters in length
  • create passwords that are difficult to guess
  • use at least three of: alphabetic, mixed case, numeric and punctuation characters when creating a new password
  • vary the case of the letters such jSno34Rt

Tip: Think of a full sentence. Now take the first letter of each word from that sentence and add a few digits to the end. Voila! You now have a unique, difficult-to-crack password.

Eg. Sentence: Coming up with new passwords is sometimes difficult.

Password: cuWnPIsd514

Warning! Never store written user-IDs and passwords together!!

If the system allows for long passwords, use a pass phrase. A pass phrase is easier to remember than a short, complex password, and is usually faster to type in as well. For example, consider the sentence, "I think, therefore I am." Use the complete sentence as your password. Remember that a proper sentence has punctuation and upper/lower case characters, so use a combination of these in your pass phrase. Our Active Directory accounts support pass phrases.

Microsoft Security Essentials is the name of Microsoft’s latest Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware software for Windows operating system. Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

Microsoft Security Essentials depends on Security Center Service to run in the background as the users are working in the system. Thus, when Security Center Services failed Microsoft Security Essentials will not work.

And when we try to start Security Center Service manually you may come across the following error:

One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either:

  • Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or
  • You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.

As a result, the page might not display correctly.

If you ever face a problem that your Security Center Services stopped and when your Security Center did not start, The first fix you would like to try is using System Restore. If System Restore did not solve this problem or if all restores were deleted then you can try malware bytes. Even if that does not solve the error, just follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Fix Windows Security Center Service Can't Be Started

Possible Solution:

Try to restart your PC and press F8 key repeatedly and boot in Safe mode with networking and then run full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials.

If that does not work, you can also try the below mentioned Troubleshooting steps.

Troubleshooting: Windows Security Center cannot be started

Warning! This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. If you by mistake have given a wrong name or wrong spelling for the user name in Windows 7, this article will help you to change that user name to the right one as you like.

If you try to change the computer name to the desired word, that will only be changed in the display right on the start menu but not on the users folders.

That is, if you I go into User Accounts and there will be an option to change account name, doing that will be successful. However, none of your directories changed name, and all the processes in the task manager will be still running under the same previous user name, which you may not like.

Solution:

To be honest, Windows 7 by design, it is not possible to change the user name of an account that will affect all directories, files, folders, etc. without creating a new account in that name.

However we will see how you can copy all current account preferences and files to another account with that desired name.

How To Change User Name In Windows 7 Guidelines For Creating User Accounts

You cannot change a user account by just changing the name. Just changing the name will make a cosmetic change only and not affect the underlying files/folders in the profile.

  • From an account with administrative privileges, go to Control Panel>User Accounts and create the new Standard user account named the way you want and at least one extra Administrator account. Call the latter "CompAdmin" or "Tech" or the like.
  • Log into the new Standard user account once so the profile files/folders are created and then log into CompAdmin.
  • Now go to Control Panel>System>Advanced>User Profiles>Settings
  • You will see where you can copy user accounts. Copy the old account to the new one from there. Use the Browse to select your new account (C:\Users\newaccount).
  • Log into the new correctly named account and make sure all your stuff is there and that it works the way you want. When you are satisfied, you can log out and into CompAdmin and delete the old user account from Control Panel>User Accounts.

If you wish to log into your Windows 7 account automatically, do this:

  • Click On Start
  • In The Search Box, type: netplwiz
  • and Hit Enter.
  • Click on Continue (or supply an administrator's password) when prompted by UAC
  • Uncheck the option "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".
  • Select a user account to automatically log on by clicking on the desired account to highlight it and then hit OK.
  • Enter the correct password for that user account (if there is one) when prompted. Leave it blank if there is no password (null).

General Recommendations for Setting Up User Accounts

You absolutely do not want to have only one user account. Like XP, Vista and all other modern operating systems, Windows 7 is a multi-user operating system with built-in system accounts such as Administrator, Default, All Users, and Guest. These accounts should be left alone as they are part of the operating system structure.

You particularly don't want only one user account with administrative privileges on Windows 7 because the built-in Administrator account (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you're running as Administrator for your daily work and that account gets corrupted, things will be Difficult. It isn't impossible to activate the built-in Administrator to rescue things, but it will require third-party tools and working outside the operating system.

The user account that is for your daily work should be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like "CompAdmin" or "Tech" or the like) only there for elevation purposes. After you create "CompAdmin", log into it and change your regular user account to Standard. Then log back into your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the Desktop and skip the Welcome Screen with the icons of user accounts, you can do this by following the instructions written in the first part of this post.

Windows Internet Explorer (formerly Microsoft Internet Explorer, commonly abbreviated IE or MSIE) is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, starting in 1995.

The latest stable release is Internet Explorer 9, which is available as a free update for Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Internet Explorer was to be omitted from Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 in Europe, but Microsoft ultimately included it, with a browser option screen allowing users to select any of several web browsers (including Internet Explorer).

Know The Fact: Internet Explorer has been the most widely used web browser since 1999, attaining a peak of about 95% usage share during 2002 and 2003 with Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Explorer 6. Since its peak of popularity, its usage share has been declining in the face of renewed competition from other web browsers, and is currently 43.55% as of February 2011. Microsoft spent over US$100 million per year on Internet Explorer in the late 1990s,with over 1000 people working on it by 1999.

In my computer every folder has now turned into a shortcut and I cannot access the files that are located within. Once I click the folder I just get a message saying 'The item 266986688.vbs that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved...' and then it asks if I want to delete. On right-clicking the drives I can see that the files are still there and they also show up being scanned with Kaspersky Antivirus, but I cannot access them in any other way. I have scanned it with several virus programs and it did not find much, even tried the scan in safe mode. I also have an external hard drive connected and that is also affected in this way.Is there any way to solve?

Solution:

The following steps helps to solve the problem:-

  • Go to control Panel, Folder Options -- select VIEW--- select Show hidden files and folders and uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended) now click APPLY
  • Go to your folders and it should show you all your folders hidden including the virus delete the virus and all the shortcut folders that have no data in them.
  • create new folders and copy the data from YOUR hidden folders into them. once that is done delete the old hidden folders.
  • Enter task manager find the program that is still running which will have the same name as the one you just deleted off the hard drive right click it and select open file location this should show you the virus location delete it!
  • Return back to control panel, Folder options select view select DO NOT show hidden files and folders and recheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended)

Next autumn, when you see geese heading south for the winter, flying in a “V” formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way.

As each bird flaps its wings,it creates uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in a “V” formation, the whole flock adds at least 71 percent greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily, because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

A SENSE OF A GOOSE

When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front.

If we have the sense of a goose, we will stay in formation with those people who are heading the same way we are.

When the head goose gets tired, it rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point.
It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs, whether with people or with geese flying south.
Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

What message do we give when we honk from behind?

Finally - and this is important - when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gunshot, and falls out of the formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection.

They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly or until it dies; and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their own group.

If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each other like that.

Windows Operating System makes everyday tasks faster and easier, to make our PC work the way we want it to, and to make it possible to do new things. And that's exactly what its doing. And now, we have the old 32 bit architecture as well as the new 64 bit architecture. As we have plenty of knowledge working with so far 32 bit architecture, now its time to learn the advantages and the dis advantages of 64 bit architecture.

When deciding to move up to a 64-bit operating system, you should first consider what 64-bit gets you. Knowing what software runs on 64-bit should influence your decision; you will see no advantage if you are running 32-bit software on a 64-bit OS.

You also lose the ability to run 16-bit software, which shouldn’t be a problem unless you rely on older software, such as old work software or home-made packages you haven’t yet updated. Read more about the Benefits Of Windows 7 64-bit Operating System

Advantages Of 64 Bit Windows Architecture:
  • More processing power: In very basic terms, 64-bit means that it can handle twice as many bits per clock cycle. For more on the technicalities of the architecture, we recommend reading this Wikipedia entry.
  • More memory: The 32-bit consumer version of Windows is only capable of addressing 3 to 3.5 Giga Byte of RAM; therefore, when you use more than 4 Giga Byte, the additional RAM goes to waste. Hitting the 3 to 3.5 Giga Byte limit only occurs if you work with several memory-hungry programs at the same time.
  • Performance advantage: Practically speaking, applications can make use of the 64-bit architecture to process huge data operations more quickly. This is especially important with advanced programs, such as video editing suites, games, or encryption software.
  • More security: The 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and 7 contain Kernel Patch Protection which prevents malicious programs from changing the Windows kernel. The operating systems also boast a Data Execution Prevention which uses a special processor feature to prevent an application from running code from a memory region where it’s not supposed to run. Overall, the 64-bit edition is more secure than its 32-bit counterpart.
Dis Advantages Of 64 Bit Windows Architecture:
  • Possible driver issues: 32-bit drivers are not supported; hardware manufacturers have to provide special 64-bit versions. However, this is not as much of an issue anymore, as nearly all of the hardware that has been released over the past three years has shipped with drivers right out of the box. If not, these drivers will come via Windows Updates or download from the manufacturers support Web sites.
  • Higher memory consumption: All memory addresses are now 64 bits long instead of 32 bits. This results in a larger memory footprint for Windows and applications. We’ve seen 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and 7 taking up 200-350 Mega byte more RAM than 32-bit versions. If you have at least 3 Giga byte of main memory, this is not an issue, but on a low-end machine (1-2 GB), this causes more access to the hard disk and potentially slows down the machine.
  • No compatibility with 16-bit software: Support for old 16-bit applications has been disabled. In most cases, this is not an issue, except when you or your company uses legacy software that has some 16-bit parts still built into it.
  • Additional Windows layer: 32-bit applications run under the Windows on Windows 64 (WoW64) environment, which emulates the old 32-bit Windows systems. This means that all 32-bit programs need to go through an additional layer in Windows before they can be processed. Although this layer is very thin, it usually results in a 2% performance loss.
These are the top four advantages and dis advantages of going for a 64 Bit Windows Architecture. You can also read my other post where I speak about the Benefits Of Windows 7 64-bit Operating System.

Keeping your kids safe online can be complicated, but Windows Live Family Safety helps make it easier for you. Family Safety provides a website and a free program that you install on the computers your kids use, so you can give them some independence but still keep tabs on their computer activities.

Family Safety can also help keep your kids off websites you don’t want them looking at, and only let them talk to the people you're okay with them talking to.

How Family Safety works:

Just like on a sports team, the different players in Family Safety and Windows make up a team that works together. The players are:

  • The Family Safety Filter. Software you install and set up on each computer your kids use. It monitors your kids using safety settings you select.

  • The Family Safety website. Where you choose and manage all the settings for each family member and view their activity reports. You can create settings on the website once and then they'll apply to every computer you’ve installed the Family Safety Filter on.

  • Windows Parental Controls. A feature in Windows that’s turned on when you use Family Safety. You can use Windows Parental Controls to set up more safety settings for your kids' computers. For more information on setting up Windows Parental Controls and Family Safety, watch the video about using Parental Controls.

To monitor your children’s online activity, you need to install and set up the Family Safety Filter on each computer they use.

See if Family Safety is already installed on your computer

If you have Windows 7, Family Safety might already be installed on your computer. To set it up, click the Start button Picture of the Start button, click All Programs, click Windows Live, and then click Windows Live Family Safety.

Protecting your kids with Family Safety

If Family Safety is already installed on your computer you can find it on the Start menu.

If Family Safety isn't installed on your computer, go to the Windows Live Family Safety download page, and then click Download. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Family Safety.

Keeping track of where your website ranks on Google for important keywords and keyword phrases can be a full time job. Although many tools exist for monitoring search engine position, properly evaluating SEO performance requires a disciplined approach.

There are a variety of ways to measure search engine rankings for your website. Popular website tools like SEO Elite and Web CEO include search engine ranking tools that can track where your site ranks for identified keywords. But what if you don’t own SEO software?

To evaluate search engine rankings, you simply need a means of measuring rankings on a regular basis. Follow these simple guidelines:

Create and maintain a spreadsheet of your rankings. Having a document that you continually update can help you see weekly changes as well as trends over time. Be sure to keep it updated at least once a week so that you are always aware of how you rank for keywords and keyword phrases you are watching.

You can choose your keyword list based on the keyword phrases you’ve selected as important, those your competitors rank well for, or individual phrases identified by SEO software. If you want to get a jump start, you can identify which keyword phrases your site is ranked for in the top 20 on Google using SEOdigger.com. This tool provides a listing of which keyword phrases your site ranks within the top 20 Google search results for and can be a great tool to identify your competitor’s keyword rankings.

How To Monitor And Manage Search Engine Results

Record changes in search engine result placements simply by entering each keyword term in to Google or using SEO software. You can also find free tools online to report your rankings like CleverStat or GoogleRankings.com.

Continue to make changes, build links, and record your results. This step will never be completed but rather is an ongoing process. You should strive to become number one on all your SERPs and get so far ahead that none of your competitors will be able to compete. This requires constant and never ending consideration to building links and creating more and more reasons for other sites to link to you.

Consider reciprocal linking, link acquisition, as well as adding free tools to your website, valuable content, and helpful downloads. Access to these tools is ideal if you want to attract links to your website. Once you’ve added these valuable tools, make sure to let others know that they exist. Consider a free press release, email campaign or promotion.

Expand your keyword list. As you improve your overall rankings on major search engines, consider adding other keywords phrases that may be relevant to your website, products or services. Focusing on an expanded keyword list can result in more traffic and broader appeal.

Monitoring and managing your search engine rankings, especially on Google is necessary if you wish to increase the organic traffic to your website. This begins with basic monitoring and evaluation of your rankings on key search engines. Once you’ve developed your spreadsheet, update your rankings each week with free tools or SEO software.

Continue to focus on your rankings and developing inbound links through free tools and resources on your site as well as proactive link requests. Over time, as you improve your rakings for key terms and phrases, expand your list. Improving your rankings is a never ending process, but an important one. Stay the course and you’ll experience the results you’re looking for.

The story goes back some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper.

Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.

Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, “This is for you, Daddy.”

The man was embarrassed by his earlier over reaction, but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty.

gift box

He yelled at her, stating, “Don’t you know, when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside?” The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, “Oh, Daddy, it’s not empty at all.

I blew kisses into the box. They’re all for you,Daddy.” The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.

Only a short time later, an accident took the life of the child. It is also told that her father kept that gold box by his bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each one of us, as humans beings, have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses... from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, more precious than this.

I am receiving the message "Windows backup failed while trying to read from shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up  " when back up operation is run. I changed some back up folders and deleted some files on back up drive and think this is related to problem.  I need to know how to recreate the "shadow copy".

Solution:

This could be Volume Shadow Copy service and SPP services are not started.

To restart the Volume Shadow Copy service and SPP services you must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps:

  • Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative Tools.
  • Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  • If the SPP service is disabled, double-click it to open the service properties.
  • If Volume Shadow Copy service is double-click it to open the service properties
  • Click the Startup type list, click Automatic (Delayed Start), and then click Apply.
  • Under Service status, click Start.

Event logs are special files that record significant events on your computer, such as when a user logs on to the computer or when a program encounters an error. Whenever these types of events occur, Windows records the event in an event log that you can read by using Event Viewer

To view the Event :

Applications and Services Logs vary. They include separate logs about the programs that run on your computer, as well as more detailed logs that pertain to specific Windows services.

  • Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Event Viewer. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  • Click an event log in the left pane.
  • Double-click an event to view the details of the event and check for the errors pertaining to Backups/VSS/SPP.
  • Information appears in event logs:

Event Viewer tracks information in several different logs. Windows Logs include:

    • Application (program) events: Events are classified as error, warning, or information, depending on the severity of the event. An error is a significant problem, such as loss of data. A warning is an event that is not necessarily significant, but might indicate a possible future problem. An information event describes the successful operation of a program, driver, or service.

    • Security-related events: These events are called audits and are described as successful or failed, depending on the event, such as whether a user trying to log on to Windows was successful.

    • Setup events: Computers that are configured as domain controllers will have additional logs displayed here.

    • System events: System events are logged by Windows and Windows system services, and are classified as error, warning, or information.

    • Forwarded events:These events are forwarded to this log by other computers.

Applications and Services Logs vary. They include separate logs about the programs that run on your computer, as well as more detailed logs that pertain to specific Windows services.

    • Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Event Viewer.‌ Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Once the head was walking from one town to another town with some of his disciples. While they were traveling, they happened to pass a lake.

They stopped there and the head told one of his disciples, "I am thirsty. Do get me some water from that lake there."

The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it, he noticed that right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy, very turbid.

The disciple thought, "How can I give this muddy water to the head to drink!"

Give it a little time for Anger to settle down

So he came back and told the head, "The water in there is very muddy. I don't think it is fit to drink."

After about half an hour, again the head asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink. The disciple obediently went back to the lake.

This time too he found that the lake was muddy. He returned and informed the head about the same.

After sometime, again the head asked the same disciple to go back. The disciple reached the lake to find the lake absolutely clean and clear with pure water in it.

The mud had settled down and the water above it looked fit for drinking. So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to the head.

The head looked at the water and then he looked up at the disciple and said, "See what you did to make the water clean. You waited long and the mud settled down on its own and you got clear water.

Your mind is also like that! When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on its own. You don't have to put in any effort to calm it down. It will happen. It is effortless".

Moral:

Similarly, when you are angry, give some extra time. You can calm down inside. This means not just controlling your outward behavior, but also controlling your internal responses, taking steps to lower your heart rate, calm yourself down, and let the feelings subside.

Computer users, particularly users without much technical expertise, often have configuration problems or usage questions that are difficult for a support professional or even just a friend or family member to diagnose and fix over the phone.

Remote Assistance provides a way for users to get the help they need and makes it easier and less costly for corporate helpdesks to assist their users. Plus, experienced users can tap Remote Assistance to directly help their friends and family members.

Until Windows XP, we usually follow the steps to offer the remote assistant to end users, but this option is not visual in windows 7. Actually, it does not mean that this tool is not supported any more in windows 7. The fact is we need to use this in a different way.

For Windows 7, you can launch Windows Remote Assistance (msra.exe) via Start menu - Programs shortcut – (Click Start, All Programs, Maintenance, Windows Remote Assistance)

You can find the detail as followed to initiate Remote Assistance requests:

  • Open the Help and Support Services Center, click Tools, and click Offer Remote Assistance.
  • In the dialog box, enter the user's machine name. Choose a user session if there is more than one.

How To Offer Remote Assistance In windows 7

If you cant find the Windows Remote assistance there, you can still use it by visiting the Windows System32 folder located in c:\Windows\system32\msra.exe

You can create a shortcut on your Desktop, then set the Target %windir%\system32\msra.exe /offerra

When I working with my laptop (which is running Vista Ultimate) loaded itself out of sleep mode I noticed that the battery, volume, and network icons in the system tray were missing:

Naturally I was puzzled by this, and a little annoyed because I could no longer tell how much battery life was left (important because I like to get up and go sit on the deck while I work every so often).  First thing I did was check the Taskbar properties, and found something odd:

As you can see in the above image, the checkboxes for the volume, network, and power icons are grayed out and not-selectable.  From my Windows development experience, I knew that Vista keeps a cache of recently used system tray icons in the registry, so on a hunch I popped open RegEdit and found where this cache is stored:

and the values

To make a long story short, I backed up the registry, deleted the "Icon Streams" and "Past Icons Stream" values, opened up the Task Manager, ended the "explorer.exe" process, restarted "explorer.exe" and just like that the missing icons had returned:

An odd problem, but thankfully one that is easily fixed.

It's worth trying to restart explorer.exe (see Step 4) before trying the registry modifications, because that may fix the problem on its own.

  • Go to Start > Run (or Windows-key + "R"), type in "regedit" and hit "OK".

  • Navigate to the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \TrayNotify"

  • Delete the values "IconStreams" and "PastIconsStream"

  • Now open up the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to the "Processes" tab, select "explorer.exe" and click "End Process"

  • Now open the "Applications" tab and click "New Task..." at the bottom-right of the window.

  • In the message box that pops up type in "explorer.exe" and hit "OK"

  • Explorer.exe will reload, and that's it! The missing icons should now be back in the system-tray where they belong.

Once upon a time, there was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her & gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He’s very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in fear that she might run away with some other men.

He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient & in fact is the merchant’s confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.

image

Now, the merchant’s 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in
maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the
merchant did not love the 1st wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.

One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, “Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I’ll be alone.

How lonely I’ll be!” Thus, he asked the 4th wife, “I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I’m dying, will you follow me and keep me company?”

“No way!” replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word. Answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant’s heart.

The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, “I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I’m dying, will you follow me and keep me company?”

“No!” replied the 3rd wife. “Life is so good over here! I’m going to remarry when you die!” The merchant’s heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the 2nd wife, “I always turned to you for help and you’ve always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?”

“I’m sorry, I can’t help you out this time!” replied the 2nd wife.” “At the very most,I can only send you to your grave.” Answer came like a bolt of thunder & merchant was devastated.

Then a voice called out: “I’ll leave with you. I’ll follow you no matter where you go.” The merchant looked up and there was his 1st wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition.

Greatly grieved, the merchant said, “I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!”Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives.

The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it’ll leave us when we die.

Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.
The 2nd wife is our family and friends.

No matter how close they had been there for us when we’re alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.

The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material wealth & sensual pleasure.

Guess what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. Perhaps it’s a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to wait until we’re on our deathbed to lament.

I have installed Windows 7 (clean 64-bit) in my desktop. Before that I also upgraded my laptop, which has an offline connection with a shared folder on my desktop. Now, after updating my desktop, there is still an offline folder (inactive/greyed/disconnected) in the sync partnership, which points to the old shared folder on my desktop which does not exist anymore! I cannot get back and delete it since that partition on my desktop is gone. Is there a way to delete this connection from my laptop?

Solution:

The steps given below will suggest you to delete the office line folders:

Method 1:

The Offline Files cache is a folder structure located in the %System Root%\CSC folder, which is hidden by default. The CSC folder, and any files and subfolders it contains, should not be modified directly; doing so can result in data loss and a complete breakdown of Offline Files functionality.

1.In Folder Options, on the Offline Files tab, press CTRL+SHIFT, and then click Delete Files. The following message appears:

The Offline Files cache on the local computer will be re-initialized. Any changes that have not been synchronized with computers on the network will be lost. Any files or folders made available offline will no longer be available offline. A computer restart is required.

If you wish to re-initialize the cache:

2. Click Yes two times to restart the computer.

If the issue persists, then I would suggest you to modify the registry settings and check whether it helps. But before you modify or change registry. I would suggest you to create a restore point and then proceed with the further steps.

To create a restore point follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Open System by clicking the Start button, right-clicking Computer and then clicking Properties.
  • In the left pane, click System protection. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  • Click the System Protection tab and then click Create.
  • In the System Protection dialog box, type a description and then click Create.

Create a restore point:

A restore point is a representation of a stored state of your computer's system files. You can use a restore point to restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. Restore points are automatically created by System Restore weekly and when System Restore detects the beginning of a change to your computer, such as when you install a program or a driver.

System image backups stored on hard disks can also be used for System Restore, just like the restore points created by system protection. Even though system image backups contain both your system files and personal data, your data files won't be affected by System Restore. You can create a restore point manually at any time by following the steps below.

  • Open System by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties.

  • In the left pane, click System protection. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • Click the System Protection tab, and then click Create.

  • In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click Create.

 Method 2

Use Registry Editor

If you cannot access the Offline Files tab, use this method to reinitialize the Offline Files (CSC) cache on the system by modifying the registry. Use this method also to reinitialize the offline files database/client-side cache on multiple systems. Add the following registry sub key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache
Key Name: Format Database
Key Type: DWORD
Key Value: 1

The actual value of the registry key is ignored. This registry change requires a restart. When the computer is restarting, the shell will reinitialize the CSC cache, and then delete the registry key if the registry entry exists.

All cache files are deleted and unsynchronized data is lost.

Use Reg.exe

You can also automate the process of setting this registry value by using the Reg.exe command line editor. To do this, type the following command in the Reg.exe window:

REG.EXE. REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache" /v FormatDatabase /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

Modifying REGISTRY settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of REGISTRY settings can be solved. Modifications of these settings are at your own risk.

I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a Cashier hand this little boy some money back. The boy couldn’t have been more than 5 or 6 years old. The Cashier said, “I’m sorry, but you don’t have enough money to buy this doll.” Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ”Granny, are you sure I don’t have enough money?” The old lady replied: ”You know that you don’t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.” Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look a round. She left quickly.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. It’s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for festival. She was sure that the boy would bring it to her. I replied to him that maybe the boy would bring it to her after all, and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly. “No, the boy can’t bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.”

image

His eyes were so sad while saying this. “My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.” My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: “I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.” Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me “I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won’t forget me.” “I love my mommy and I wish she doesn’t have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.” Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. “Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?” “OK” he said, “I hope I do have enough.” I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money. The little boy said: “Thank you God for giving me enough money!” Then he looked at me and added, “I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give it to my sister. He heard me!” “I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn’t dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.” “My mommy loves white roses.”

A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket. I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn’t get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away. I couldn’t stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed forever. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

The value of a man or woman resides in what he or she gives, not in what they are capable of receiving…
