Copying, moving, renaming, and deleting are far and away the most heavily used features within Windows Explorer, representing 50% of total command usage (based on Windows 7 user experience and feedback). With the increasing amount of local storage measured in terabytes, containing photos (in multiple formats and very large files), music, and video, Copying, Moving and deleting files and folders (also called as “Copy Jobs”) are being taxed in new ways.

And this is also one of the most used features, and one Microsoft have not improved substantially in a long time.

Prior versions of Windows Explorer can handle these kinds of jobs, but Explorer isn’t optimized for high-volume jobs or for executing multiple copy jobs concurrently. However, in Windows 8 it looks great and also beautiful to perform Copy Jobs.

Until Windows 7, at least 5.61% of copy jobs fail to complete for a variety of different reasons ranging from network interruptions to people just cancelling the operation.

Also, most of us have a third-party copy management tool that already addresses these high-volume scenarios. Our telemetry data shows that the most popular of these add-ons (such as TeraCopy, FastCopy, and Copy Handler). But most people do not have a great tool for high-volume copy jobs.

Windows 8 targets three main improvements to the copy experience (Download Windows 8):

  • One place to manage all copy jobs: Create one unified experience for managing and monitoring ongoing copy operations.
  • Clear and concise: Remove distractions and give people the key information they need.
  • User in control: Put people in control of their copy operations.

Also, there were four major improvements to the copy experience. Here is a short video demo (download it here: High quality MP4 | Low quality MP4) of these improvements.

Windows 8 have consolidated the copy experience. You can now review and control all the Explorer copy jobs currently executing in one combined UI. Windows 8 presents all pending copy jobs in this single dialog, saving you from having to navigate through multiple floating dialogs looking for the one you need.

Windows 8 is Beautiful to Copy, Move and Delete Files and Folders 1

Consolidated copy (fewer details view)

Now we have the  ability to pause, resume, and stop each copy operation currently underway. This gives us control over which copy jobs will complete first. You can also click any of the source or destination folders while the copy operation is taking place and open up those folders.

Windows 8 is Beautiful to Copy, Move and Delete Files and Folders 2

Pause (fewer details view)

To support this new ability to prioritize and decide, Microsoft have added a detailed view with a real-time throughput graph. Now each copy job shows the speed of data transfer, the transfer rate trend, and how much data in left to transfer. While this is not designed for benchmarking, in many cases it can provide a quick and easy way to assess what is going on for a particular job.

Here you can see three copy jobs underway:

Windows 8 is Beautiful to Copy, Move and Delete Files and Folders 3

Consolidated copy (more details view)

And here you can see how the speed of file transfer increases substantially when two of the copy jobs are paused:

Windows 8 is Beautiful to Copy, Move and Delete Files and Folders 4

Pause (more details view)

This is how Windows 8 makes it beautiful to copy, move, delete files and folders. And if you are seeing varying Estimated Time Remaining For the copy or move operation, that is because, estimating the time remaining to complete a copy is nearly impossible to do with any precision because there are many unpredictable and uncontrollable variables involved – for instance, how much network bandwidth will be available for the length of the copy job? Will your anti-virus software spin up and start scanning files? Will another application need to access the hard drive? Will the user start another copy job?

So, there wont be an exact estimated time. However, you will get an estimated estimated time. lol…

Update: Windows 8, the next version of Windows, which completely revamps the operating system to be compatible with both touchscreen devices like tablets and traditional PCs, is now available to anyone who wants it as Microsoft released a preview (and is also available for download) of Windows 8 to developers at the Microsoft BUILD conference. Follow this link to read more on how to download Windows 8.

Its still in rumours about the Download of Windows 8 Beta And RTM Release. Its been quite a long now that Windows 8 rumours have been circulating regarding the release of Windows 8, as well as its RTM, pre-release, and beta counterparts.

Microsoft will make us wait till the next major event for Windows that is Windows BUILD conference in September, where they may provide developers with more details about the full spectrum of tools and capabilities available to make the most of Windows 8.

Windows 8 beta release would take place at Microsoft’s BUILD Conference in September as Microsoft has confirmed that it will deliver the first deep insight into Windows 8 in mid-September 2011 at its BUILD Windows conference, and Microsoft is also expected to share a pre-release Build at least with participants, if not with as many testers as possible.

Also, Piles of interim Builds of Windows 8 have already been complied, with number of releases even served to early adopters outside of Redmond.

Download Windows 8 RTM

And while Windows 8 pre-release will be easy and not a secret, Microsoft continues to keep mum on just what exactly will happen at BUILD, and whether it will release a pre-Beta or the fully fledged Beta to testers.

If there is any update to this release, we will be posting it here on this page. Stay tuned.

If your team—or perhaps your entire company—works remotely in the cloud, one of the challenges you might face is making sure everyone is trained in a similar way for common business procedures.

For example, if you’re using a specific kind of issue tracking software, how do you teach your employees to use it? Or does everyone in your customer service department know how to report fulfilment problems? You can develop online training modules to make sure that your team has access to the knowledge they need to complete their business-critical tasks.

One great way to approach training—especially if you think you might do a lot of it—is to create a Training page on your team site. On this page, you could add subpages with a focus on different training modules: Sales, Technology, New Hires, and so forth.

After you have an overall idea of your training program in mind, you can get to work using Office 365 to create the pieces. Here are other 8 Ways Office 365 Can Help with Your Online Training:

■ Get your team together to brainstorm in Lync Online training can be a fun, creative project that includes the talents and interests of many people on your team. Create an online meeting in Lync, and invite your team to a whiteboard brainstorming session. You can all talk about what you’d like to see in the training and identify the training goal as well as your primary objectives.

■ Outline the process in a Word document or OneNote notebook The idea here is to give yourself space to identify all the important steps as you begin to pull together the content for the training.

■ Use Word to draft a document of your training content Focus first on the outline and the content you want to convey; add illustrations as needed (or create a separate file or folder on your SharePoint site for photos you want to use).

■ Use your OneNote notebook to collect research you will use as the basis for your training Be sure to include full resource citations and links if appropriate.

■ Build a prototype of your training in PowerPoint As a first draft, you can include the content and photos (or video clips) your participants will see. (See Screenshot below) Share the draft with your team, and use Lync to get together and talk about the draft.

8 Ways Office 365 Can Help with Your Online Training

■ Save as a broadcast, and save as video If the training module you create is not interactive but walks the participant through a process with audio and video, you can save the presentation as a video clip and post it to your team site.

■ Use Word to create an assessment tool This helps participants see what they learned and let you know what they thought about the training module.

■ Make hand outs and tip sheets available on the training page If you do this, participants can download additional information if they want to review the content that was covered.

If you enable AutoRecover or AutoSave, your file (such as a Microsoft Office Word document) or item (such as an Outlook e-mail message) is automatically saved as often as you want. Therefore, if you have been working for a long time but forget to save a file or if your power goes out, the file you have been working on contains all or at least some of the work you have done since you last saved it.

Sometimes a Microsoft Office program closes before you can save changes to a file you are working on. Some possible causes include:

➜ A power outage occurs.

➜ Your system is made unstable by another program.

➜ Something goes wrong with the Microsoft Office program itself.

Although you can't always prevent problems such as these from happening, you can take steps to protect your work when an Office program closes abnormally.

Like other Office programs, Word automatically saves a temporary copy of an open file every 10 minutes. If you close a file without saving it, you can return to the most  recently saved temporary version. You can also display the temporary copies of files that you started but never saved.

How To change the AutoSave frequency

On the Save page of the Word Options dialog box, in the Save AutoRecover information every box, enter a number of minutes from 1 through 120.

In case if you are recovering from your file after a power failure or so, the amount of new information that the recovered file contains depends on how frequently a Microsoft Office program saves the recovery file. For example, if the recovery file is saved only every 15 minutes, your recovered file won't contain your last 14 minutes of work before the power failure or other problem occurred.

Managing Document Versions And Auto Save Features In Office Documents

How To display a previous (saved) version of the current document

On the Info page of the Backstage view, in the Versions list, click the version of the file you want to display.

How To replace the current file with a previous version

  • Display the previous version of the file.
  • On the Autosaved Version bar that appears below the ribbon, click Restore.

Although not every aspect of your program's state can be recovered, in many cases, the Recovery feature can help you recover more quickly.

How To display a temporary (unsaved) version of a document

  • On the Info page of the Backstage view, click the Manage Versions button, and then click Recover Unsaved Documents.
  • In the Open dialog box displaying the contents of your UnsavedFiles folder, click the file you want to display, and then click Open.

How To delete temporary document versions

  • On the Info page of the Backstage view, click the Manage Versions button, and then click Delete All Unsaved Documents.
  • In the dialog box prompting you to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

Microsoft’s Windows 8 interface and features are still shrouded in some mystery but a new video emerged recently appears to show how photo sharing may work. This may be a fake video. But I believe it is possible, since Microsoft Tellme has really cool possibilities in text recognition.

The majority of the video features Windows Phone 7 concepts of future versions that include deeper speech technology. Windows Phone has existing speech technology thanks to Microsoft’s TellMe service. Microsoft hopes to push this further to the TV (with Xbox) and on Windows 8 tablets.

Microsoft’s video briefly demonstrates how speech recognition would work in future on tablets. The demo includes a tile based user interface and shows a simple way of sharing pictures using touch and voice. The interface appears to be a concept of how the next version of Windows will perform speech queries, however this could hint at what Microsoft is planning for Windows 8.

Here is another video that was shared in winrumors

As said before, it just doesn't look official. This looks more like a concept that the team who put this together created from Windows Phone 7 look and feel. It doesn't look like official Windows 8 UI/UX, even though this concept is clearly Metro.

This is completely possible. I mean there is really no difference in what we can do now with Windows Phone 7. You can already tell it to "call so and so" it calls them. Why can't you say send to "whomever" and it do it. Pretty sweet. Hopefully, this will be integrated into Windows 8. That would be really cool!

And it would look nice if its mean to be used in tablets. I cant wait to see what really windows 8 is going have, but it seems like it will be amazing OS, like for tablets with stuff like in this video. Also you may be interested to know how the future of photo sharing will be.

The problem may, if you are using dual boot option to start Windows 8 and other earlier version of Windows. Once the installation of Windows 8 gets over, you wont be getting an option screen to choose which OS to boot. Windows 8 Starts By Default On a Dual Boot Installing 7989 as dual boot (issue).

It happened to me once with build 7955 and I used EasyBCD 2.1 to recreate the missing entry, but the "Repair" method is safer in my opinion.

If you have installed the latest leaked build (7989) on a separate partition (Dual Boot), of course the installation will go smooth without a hitch. Once the setup gets completed and all restarts had processed you will face a shiny new build of Windows 8

Here comes the issue...
1, After a manual restart you will find no boot option relating to choosing which OS to boot up, Windows 8 started instantly.

2, After running MSCONFIG you will notice that there was now only 1 option and that was for the current running Windows 8.

How to fix the issue...

Boot up using the Windows 7 DVD and choose the advanced options, at which the "searching for Windows" dialog appears. Seconds later you will be prompted that a Repair & Restart was needed. Click the "Repair & Restart" button. And you will be given the options you was first expecting.

  • Windows 8
  • Windows 7 (Recovered)

After selecting Windows 7 (restored) all will be fine to you. This may be an isolated case but for those who experience the same dual boot issue then follow the guideline above.

If you want only certain people to be able to open and change a document, you can assign a password to protect the document. Word then requires that the password be entered correctly before the document can be opened and changed.

Word offers two levels of password protection, Unencrypted and Encrypted, and you can use both these options depending upon your need and the level of security you wish to use on your documents.

Unencrypted The document is saved in such a way that only people who know the password can open it, make changes, and save the file. People who don’t know the password can open a read-only version. If they make changes and want to save them, they have to save the document with a different name or in a different location, preserving the original.

Restrict Document Access Using Encrypted And Unencrypted Protection In Word 2010 1

Encrypted The document is saved in such a way that people who do not know the password cannot open it at all.

To require a password to open a document

1. On the Info page of the Backstage view, click the Protect Document button, and then click Encrypt with Password.

2. In the Encrypt Document dialog box, in the Password box, enter the password you want to assign to the document. Then click OK. (Or)

  • In the left pane of the Backstage view, click Save As.
  • At the bottom of the Save As dialog box, click Tools, and then click General Options.
  • In the General Options dialog box, in the Password to open box, enter the password you want to assign to the document. Then click OK.

Instead of setting a password, you can select the Read-Only Recommended check box to cause Word to display a message suggesting that the document be opened as read-only.

4. In the Confirm Password dialog box, in the Reenter password to modify box, enter the password, and then click OK.

5. In the Save As dialog box, click Save. If prompted to do so, click Yes to confirm that
you want to replace the existing file.

To require a password to modify a document

When you have first used Windows 7, may be the pre beta release you might have thought “it's Linux”. Now, looking at Windows 8 and so far It will just look like Windows 7. And if you are expecting something more than just the Windows 7, you need to unlock the new features there were actually hidden. Does the early builds of Windows 8 actually have anything new in it.

There are two or three hidden features which can be opened with hacks. I suspect, though, that they are primarily for the use of the MS programmers, and some (or all) may not necessarily be in the final product.

If you wanted any new features exclusive to Windows 8 to jump out and grab yourself. You can unlock all the new features if you use a program called "Red Pill Enabler" just do a Google search or just have a look here: RedPill Enabler

Unlock The Hidden Features On Windows 8 Build 7989.php

Unlock all features locked by slc.dll in all windows 8 build (7955,7959,7989,...,8039, Dont work on 804x +) x86 and x64, without patching any dll (It just add a new slc.dll, and rename the old slc.dll to slcrp.dll).

Allow to patch directly the install.wim files to unlock the new codes (If you are on Windows 7 you need Net! 4).

But the RedPill will not remove the Time limit (timebomb). In my opinion, to really remove the timebomb we need to patch the function zwQueryLicenceValue (and NtQueryLicenceValue) into ntdll.dll.

Unlock The Hidden Features On Windows 8 Build 7989

The timebomb was checked during the boot with a call in ntdll to the function zwquerylicencevalue.

All call in a original slc (SlGetWindowsInformationDword, the function to enabled redpill) was redirect into the function NtQueryLicenceValue of ntdll.dll.

To prevent anyone from introducing inconsistent formatting into a document, you can limit the styles that can be applied. You can select the styles individually, or you can implement the recommended minimum set, which consists of all the styles needed by Word for features such as tables of contents.

Please note that, the recommended minimum set doesn’t necessarily include all the styles used in the document.

Also, in Word 2011 you can restrict Document Access to certain users alone which i am planning to write in couple of days. Here, let us discuss about how You can also restrict the ways users can edit a document.

How to restrict formatting changes

1. On the Review tab, in the Protect group, click the Restrict Editing button.

(Or) On the Info page of the Backstage view, click the Protect Document button, and then click Restrict Editing.

2. In the Restrict Formatting and Editing task pane, in the Formatting restrictions section, select the Limit formatting to a selection of styles check box, and then click Settings.

3. In the Formatting Restrictions dialog box, do one of the following, and then click OK:

  • Clear the check boxes of the styles that you will not allow in the document.
  • Click None, and then select the check boxes of the styles that you will allow in the document.

4. In the Start enforcement section of the Restrict Formatting and Editing task pane, click Yes, Start Enforcing Protection.

5. In the Start Enforcing Protection dialog box, if you want to require a password to use styles other than those you selected, enter a password in the Enter new password and Reenter password to confirm boxes. Then click OK.

How To restrict editing

1. In the Restrict Formatting and Editing pane, in the Editing restrictions section, select the Allow only this type of editing in the document check box.

2. In the Allow only… list, do one of the following:

  • To force all changes to be tracked, click Tracked changes.
  • To disable all changes other than commenting, click Comments.
  • To disable changes outside of form fields, click Filling in forms.

3. In the Start enforcement section of the Restrict Formatting and Editing task pane, click Yes, Start Enforcing Protection.

How to Restrict Formatting and Editing Changes to Word Documents

How to remove formatting and editing restrictions

  • In the Restrict Formatting and Editing pane, click Stop Protection.
  • If the Unprotect Document dialog box opens, enter the assigned password, and then click OK.

Microsoft is keeping original equipment manufacturers that want to pre-install Windows 8 on next generation Tablet PCs, or slates, as they’re referred to, on a very tight leash.

Microsoft has imposed on computer manufacturers in order to get the next version of Windows on tablets are nothing short of troublesome.

Acer’s CEO did stress that both chip and PC manufacturers feel like the software giant is attempting to control the entire process of putting Windows 8 on next generation form factors. Microsoft of course, provided no confirmation of this, now or in the past.

It’s absolutely necessary for Microsoft to keep OEMs on a very short leash, and ensure that upcoming Windows 8 Tablet PCs / slates are indeed capable of rivaling Apple’s iPad.

Having confirmed that Next version of Windows will support Systems on a Chip architectures and ARM systems, Microsoft is expected to offer a special flavour of Windows 8 tailored to tablets.

This is actually a good thing. With Windows 7, because they imposed more restrictions, people were able to get a better experience with less crap ware because of the regulations.

The last time I bought a machine (three years ago) it came with Vista and a boatload of "extra stuff" - my first move after setting it up was to go to Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs. I've since reloaded the machine with Win7 (clean installation). Small wonder a lot of folks prefer to build their own machines. Sadly, though, I do not expect the trend to change significantly.

Sounds like when Microsoft threatened OEMs over ending contracts if Netscape was installed....1990s.

Source: Windows 8 Comes with a Tight Leash for OEMs - Microsoft Imposes Strict Restrictions – Softpedia

Strict Restrictions For OEMs To Pre-Install Windows 8

Here is one of the screenshots from Windows 8 Build 8064 that have been shared by Chinese site PCBeta.

However, the public should expect Windows 8 to be treated no differently from Windows 7, and some might still recall that Microsoft only started revealing information on the successor of Windows Vista quite late in the development process, when the feature set was all but set in stone.

Prior to Microsoft Office 2007, Office Word documents were saved in the .doc file format. The 2007 Microsoft Office system introduced a new set of file formats based on XML, called Microsoft Office Open XML Formats.

By default, Word 2010 (and Word 2007) documents are saved in the .docx format, which is a Word-specific Open XML format.

Even though many still feel the .docx has some disadvantages, here are the benefits that you can get when saving the document in .docx format:

1. File sizes are smaller than with previous file formats.

2. It is simpler to recover damaged content because XML files can be opened in a variety of text editors.

3. Security is greater because .docx files cannot contain macros, and personal data  can easily be identified and removed from files. Documents saved in the .docx format can be opened by Word 2010 and Word 2007.  (Users of earlier versions of Word can download a converter that will allow them to  open a .docx file in their version of Word. )

In addition to the .docx format, Word provides these Open XML formats:

  • docm This format is for macro-enabled documents.
  • dotx This format is for document templates.
  • dotm This format is for macro-enabled document templates.

You can save a Word document in many formats, some of which optimize the file for specific uses.

Benefits Of .docx Format

While most people welcome the change because it is based on open XML standards and reduces the file size, some have found it frustrating.

The problem? Well, if you create a document in Word 2007 and then email it to someone who has a previous version of Word, they won’t be able to open it with the new format. Luckily there are several options to fix the problem as what we discussed above, they can use a converter tool from Microsoft. Or, you need to save Your Documents in Word 97–2003 Format before sending the file to others.

Displaying Multiple Program Windows:You can open multiple documents in independent windows, and you can open multiple windows that display the same document.

You can display two windows side by side so that you can see the contents of both simultaneously. When you display windows side by side, Word automatically turns on synchronous scrolling, so that scrolling one window also scrolls the other. You can also stack two or more windows on top of each other. When more than two windows are stacked, the ribbon is hidden automatically.

When only two windows are stacked, you can manually minimize the ribbon to display only the tab names and occupy less screen space.

How to open a second instance of a document in a separate window,

  • On the View tab, in the Window group, click the New Window button.

Leaders are not born, but developed. But, what exactly Leadership is? When we think of successful, high-profile leaders, we think of people such as General Colin Powell, who led the American forces during the Gulf War; or Bill Gates, the Harvard dropout who founded Microsoft and became the richest man in the world.

In your own field, you can probably name one or two men or women who are successful leaders—people who seem almost visionary and have an intangible knack for getting things right and inspiring their subordinates.

Leaders are able to define a goal, persuade others to assist in achieving that goal, and lead their teams to victory. But what is the definition of leadership? Leadership is crucial to managers in the business world, but it also plays an important role for coaches, teachers, and parents. There is not one single definition of leadership. Understanding this is the first step toward becoming an effective leader. What Is Leadership Leadership Trends

Some common definitions or beliefs about leadership include the following:

  • A leader is the appointed head of a group, team, or organization.
  • A leader is a charismatic person who is able to make good decisions and inspire others to reach a common goal.
  • Leadership is the power to communicate assertively and inspire others.
  • Leadership is the ability to influence others.

Not one of the preceding definitions is more correct than any of the others. All of the definitions, however, agree on one common fact: Leadership involves more than one person.

You cannot be a leader without a group of people following your direction and putting their trust in you. Remember, as a leader you have a responsibility to your employees, group, organization, or team to lead fairly and ethically. The title "Boss" or "Manager" does not automatically make you a leader.

To be a good leader, you'll need to fortify yourself by keeping up with the latest leadership trends, observing other leaders (including leaders in your own chain of command and leaders in the news), and recognizing that your own unique brand of leadership will change as you gain experience.

And most importantly, you need to keep up on the latest leadership trends by reading trade publications, watching the news, and observing successful leaders in your own organization.

Customers are interested in VDI for good reason. VDI can help you centralize your desktop management and gain better control of what is being installed on Windows, how you secure your data, and help speed up your Windows 7 migrations with the ability to create one image and deliver it centrally to many users

When considering VDI, it’s important to understand the implications and implementation requirements.

Hosted virtual desktops (HVD), also known as VDI, can have a large impact on the data center as new servers are purchased to manage the increased compute load that is switched from the desktop, additional storage capacity is acquired, and new tools are sought that will help better manage the HVD environment.

Additional impacts and concerns surround network bandwidth, security, application acceleration and WAN optimization. No one concern stood out more than others which indicates that HVDs will have a broad impact on the data center that requires carefully created plans in rolling out the technology.

Architecting your VDI infrastructure to address these realities is critical to ensuring a great local-like user experience. If your users need offline mobility, then using alternate virtualization technologies in combination with a laptop will deliver the best user experience.

So VDI is right for some situations, but not all. If you already have the server, storage and network infrastructure, SA and Windows licenses, then VDI could be a good option for you with very little additional investment. And now with Windows Thin PC, you can repurpose existing PCs to behave as thin clients, so that is a cost you can save while making the most of the hardware you already own.

“To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a few minutes”. And even after compacting, you may receive this message every few minutes.

This message may be irrelevant, if you do not use Outlook Express, and therefore have no messages to compact. and if you do not need to free up disk space as you may be using only few % of your disk space. If this is the case, what is the way to get rid off this very irritating message.

The problem is, Microsoft removed background compaction from Outlook Express in Windows XP Service Pack 2.   It caused too many problems. But, background compaction is a different issue than the one we're discussing here, which is "To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages."

To turn that message off through Outlook Express Settings,

  • You will have to open Outlook Express,
  • Click on Tools, Options
  • Then on the Maintenance tab at the top.
  • Look for the “Compact messages in the background” checkbox in the “Cleaning Up Messages” section and remove the checkmark.

If you cant succeed in the above method, try Try resetting the compact count in the registry:

Warning: Incorrectly editing the registry might damage your system and prevent Windows from starting. Before doing it, back up your important data, make a restore point, and make sure you know how to repair a damaged system. Before making any changes to the orginal default settings, it is advices to create a System Restore settings. Follow this link for details on Using Windows System Restore.

  • Start the registry editor.
  • Open this key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{identity}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0
where identity is a string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
  • Set the value of Compact Check Count to 0.
  • Close the registry editor.

Outlook Express Can Compact Messages How To Disable This Message

This error may occur as Outlook Express is indexed by Windows Search even when Outlook Express is not in use on Windows XP. If that is the case, one of our friend have already discussed this in his blog, Just follow the link for a fix.

For more information, see Why You Should Let Outlook Express Compact Messages When It Asks You .

The Ribbon is designed to help you quickly find the commands that you need to complete a task. Commands are organized in logical groups, which are collected together under tabs. Each tab relates to a type of activity, such as writing or laying out a page. To reduce clutter, some tabs are shown only when needed. For example, the Picture Tools tab is shown only when a picture is selected.

The more width you have on your screen, the more options available to you. It makes sense that the width of the ribbon is dependent on the horizontal space available to it, which in turn depends on these three factors:

● The Width Of The Program Window.

● Your Screen Resolution

● The Screen Magnification

Let us see how these three factors affect the width of the office ribbon and the ways you can increase the size of the Office Ribbon.

How To Change The Width Of Office Ribbon R

The Width Of The Program Window:

On a computer running Windows 7, you can maximize the program window by dragging its title bar to the top of the screen.

Changing the Width of the Office Ribbon

Otherwise, you can maximise the program window simply clicking the maximize icon on the top right corner of the Active Window (Office Application).

Your Screen Resolution:

Screen resolution is the size of your screen display expressed as pixels wide × pixels high. The greater the screen resolution, the greater the amount of information that will fit on one screen. Your screen resolution options are dependent on your monitor. At the time of writing, possible screen resolutions range from 800 × 600 to 2048 × 1152. In the case of the ribbon, the greater the number of pixels wide (the first number), the greater the number of buttons that can be shown on the ribbon, and the larger those buttons can be.

Changing the Width of the Office Ribbon 1

On a computer running Windows 7, you can change your screen resolution from the Screen Resolution window of Control Panel.

The Density Of Your Screen Display:

You might not be aware that you can change the magnification of everything that appears on your screen by changing the screen magnification setting in Windows. Setting your screen magnification to 125 percent makes text and user interface elements larger on screen. This increases the legibility of information, but means that less information fits onto each screen.

Changing the Width of the Office Ribbon 2

On a computer running Windows 7, you can change the screen magnification from the Display window of Control Panel. You can choose one of the standard display magnification options, or create another by setting a custom text size.

The screen magnification is directly related to the density of the text elements on screen, which is expressed in dots per inch (dpi) or points per inch (ppi). (The terms are interchangeable, and in fact are both used in the Windows dialog box in which you change the setting.) The greater the dpi, the larger the text and user interface elements appear on screen. By default, Windows displays text and screen elements at 96 dpi.

Choosing the Medium - 125% display setting changes the dpi of text and screen elements to 120 dpi. You can choose a custom setting of up to 500 percent magnification, or 480 dpi, in the Custom DPI Setting dialog box.

You can choose a magnification of up to 200 percent from the lists or choose a greater magnification by dragging across the ruler from left to right.

If you want to make larger options available in the Office Ribbon, you need to experiment all the three factors that are affecting the Width of the Office Ribbon.

Before making any changes to the orginal default settings, it is advices to create a System Restore settings. Follow this link for details on Using Windows System Restore. On a safer side, it is good to note down all your changes in a piece of paper or on a word document so that when you struck up with problem, you can revert back to the original settings.

It makes perfect sense to make dollars with Adsense. With that source of revenue, you can further upgraded your website and take it to the next level with full potential.

If you are selling any product online, you can very  well generate income from your product. But, what if your website is content based? Well, there wont be any prospect of any financial return.

But its not the case of Google AdSense. If you are ready to work hard, Google is ready to pay for you. But, the best was to make more revenue form google depends on the quality and uniqueness of your content.

Google’s contextual advertising program Adsense which has been around for some long time (since June 2003). Back then the program was open only to webmasters with their own domain names and many quickly took up the opportunity to cash in on their labor of love sites.

You don’t need to break your head and develop a website for you to be approved by Google. You can even get AdSense approved if you have a quality blog on Blogger which is powered by Google, of-course. Google’s intention is to bring in as much as possible quality websites under the AdSense umbrella.

Remember, in order to apply for Google Adsense, your site should be ready and might have some content in it. If your site is still under Construction, your application will be rejected and of course you can re apply once your site is ready and launched.

My first application for Adsense was rejected and I got an explanation stating that my site was still under construction. I thought that this was a mistake so I reapplied the same day and got accepted. Right away I was able to log in to my account and start putting the code for the ads on my pages.

The control panel is easy to understand and Google provides stats and figures in order for you to track your performance. You can also add Adsense for search where visitors can search the web or your site and you get compensated every time someone clicks on the ads displayed. And still you can also use other free services from Google like, Google Webmasters Tool, Google Analytical, to monitor your websites growth.

Content Is The Key For Your Revenue:

Developing content sites is key to success in Adsense. Why? Because Google’s technology uses the content of each page to guess which ads are most suitable. The higher the quality of the content, the higher quality and paying ads you will attract. You can also read my earlier post, 7 New Ways To Make Content For Your Blog to know how to develop content for your website or blog. And also I would suggest you to know how big your content needs to be.

Quick Tips To Make Money From Blogs And Website

Please note that getting accepted into Adsense does not guarantee that you will receive a check from them. Your success depends on many factors. Some of them include the number of visitors, the placement of the ads, the value of the keywords on the page where the ads are shown and how many persons who will click through on the Adsense ad panel.

Warning! For those with unscrupulous minds, Google has ways and means to find out where each ad click is originating from. Therefore no click spamming. Adsense is a win-win situation for all the players involved. It benefits the visitors with additional information, the search engines because of higher quality websites and you with a check every month.

How to determine if a mirror is 2 way or not: How many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror (in bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms) hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror i.e., they can see you, but you can't see them? There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors  and It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by just looking at it.

Not to scare you, but to make sure that you aware. Many of the hotels cheat the customers this way. So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at?

Here is a Simple Test you need to try:
Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a Genuine mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then beware, it is a two-way mirror! (there is someone seeing you from the other side). So remember, every time you see a mirror, do the "fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything. It is simple to do This is a really good thing to do.

The reason there is a gap on a real mirror, is because the silver is on the back of the mirror UNDER the glass. Whereas with a two-way mirror, the silver is on the surface. Keep it in mind! Make sure and check every time you enter in hotel rooms. May be someone is spying on you. or may be someone is making a film on you.

By now, we know how Twitter Is Different From Other Social Networking. But, looking at Twitter for the first time, you might be compelled to ask, “But why are all these people, many of whom seem like just random strangers, talking?” At first glance, Twitter seems flooded with disjointed conversations, interactions, and information. You can find news headlines, political debates, observations on the weather, and requests for advice.

The idea of Twitter can be a bit confusing for new twitterers (people who use Twitter).  People have many reasons for using Twitter and those are as follows:

  • To connect: Most people start using Twitter to forge connections and be a part of a community. Others just want to be heard. Twitter lets millions of people around the world hear what you have to say; then it lets you connect with the ones who want to hear from or talk to you about your passions, interests, and ideas.
  • To record: Some people tweet as a way to take notes on life. They use Twitter at conferences, events, or just walking around and may even jog their own memories later about something that happened or what they’ve discovered. For example, if you’re walking down the street and you notice a new restaurant you want to check out when you have more time, you might tweet about that. Now everyone who follows you knows about this interesting-looking place, and you have a way of remembering to go back there yourself.
  • To share: Some people use Twitter to share what they think, read, and know. They may tweet links to great articles or interesting items, or they may tweet original thoughts, ideas, hints, and tricks. Some tweet notes from speeches or classes, and others share choice bits of their inner monologue. Even when this information can get pretty obscure, with millions of listeners, someone’s bound to find it informative or interesting.
  • To stay in touch: Whole families and groups of long-term friends use Twitter to stay in touch. Twitter can send public or private notes to your friends, and it stores all sent messages, which means that you don’t lose your thoughts when you close your browser (or your desktop application). Connecting to one another on Twitter is a great way to preserve an initial contact, such as at an event or conference, in a way that lets you gradually get to know them more over time.

Twitter is pretty easy to actually use, meaning everyone from your 8-year-old to 92-year-old can figure out how to use Twitter and say hello. Because you can access Twitter by using either a computer or cellphone (or both!), it fits into mobile lifestyles and brings you closer to the everyday thoughts of those you’re interested in.

A proxy server acts as a mediator between the user machine and the server. There are different types of proxy servers are available. Some of them are: transparent, anonymous and elite proxy servers.

Transparent proxies are not capable of hiding your ip address but it is also has its own importance. Some people may use these servers to restrict some services on the network. Sometimes these servers can increase your browsing speed by storing frequently used pages in the local cache of the server.

But the truth is that there are very rare peoples these days that are using transparent proxy servers.

Anonymous proxy servers are those servers which hides your identity (ip address) from the visiting websites. Internet is full of hackers and other threats hence if you have doubt on any website then you should use anonymous proxies to hide your ip address and surf securely. Whenever you use anonymous proxy ip address then visiting site knows that you are surfing behind a proxy.

Elite proxies are those proxies which hides your ip address as Anonymous proxy also visiting site never knows that you are behind a proxy. There are some other types of proxies available these days but we are not going to make light on them.

Use of Free Proxy List
If you are new to proxy world then you may wonder what the uses of proxy servers are. There is nothing to worry about this here is the list of uses:
  1. It helps you in hiding your identity from the sites which can steal your personal information.
  2. it provides you the greater flexibility to control your network.
  3. It gives the access to the sites which are blocked in your area.
  4. Some times it increases the browsing speed by storing frequently used pages in cache.

In short, Twitter is a online place for any casual or business gathering, and you can start a lively conversation right there from your system. But the real fact is, many people still don’t get Twitter. And few others ask, “Why should I waste my time with Twitter?”  If you are one of the few who ask this way, this article will let you know what Twitter is and also helps you understand the true business value of Twitter.

The common definitions of Twitter to newbies is, Twitter is a platform that allows you to share, in real time, thoughts, information, links, and so forth with the Web at-large and to be able to communicate directly, privately or publicly, with other Twitter users.

The main difference between Twitter and other social networking is however, is that each Twitter communication cannot exceed 140 total characters.

Difference Between Twitter and Other Social Networking

The main difference of course depends on another question, “who can see Twitter messages” and does someone has to join Twitter to communicate and to be communicated ?

I stress that most Twitter posts, known as tweets, can theoretically be viewed by anyone with an Internet connection at any time. No one needs to have a Twitter account to view someone else’s tweets. The public accessibility of Twitter makes it somewhat unique among social networking websites, where normally you can’t see people’s information without them first accepting your invitation. If you do want to communicate privately with other individuals on Twitter, though, you will need to join and create an account.

Twitter is based on the simple question “What are you doing?” and encourages users to answer exactly that.

To be successful in Twitter, you need to create conversation. But if you use Twitter only to broadcast your commonplace activities, you’re missing out on its real potential. After all, if all you ever write is “Going to the grocery store now,” or “Just fixed the office copier,” you’re not really opening up the door for much conversation, are you?

Twitter Is Different From Other Social Networking

Conversations of many kinds and the ease with which Twitter facilitates them compose the hidden power of Twitter, particularly as a branding and business marketing tool. Twitter has given the public unprecedented direct access to companies, celebrities, and power figures in a way that hasn’t previously been seen. Conversely, Twitter enables unfettered and immediate direct access to the masses.

If you have ever experimented with the System dialogue screen on your Windows 7 PC, you might have noticed that the Operating system is referred to as Windows 6.1… If you have not heard this before you will wondering if it is Windows 7 or something else. Well, Why is this? Are they the same thing or not? Lets see that in detail in this article.

Microsoft Windows evolution went successively from Windows 2000 on to Windows XP then to Windows Vista and then straight to Windows 7. Where did a version "6.1" ever come in?

Why because, the names for the Windows are called 'friendly names'. And in technical terms all software's are called only by addressing its version No. That is, Windows 5.0, 6.0. 6.7 and so on. Thus, all software will have a numeric Version and Build Number.

if you want to know what is there for your version of Windows, (if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7) Go to Start and type winver and press Enter. If you are using Windows XP, you need to type that in run prompt and hit enter.

In the window that pops up, you will see some version number like Version 6.1 (Build 7600) if you have the Windows 7 Service 1 installed, it will show (Build 7601, Service Pack 1).

For more information, Type MsInfo32 in the Start RUN box and look at your System Summary. You should see entries similar to these.

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.1.7601.17514"

Each Windows has it's friendly or public name, like Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and may be the next version of Windows like Windows 8, etc., Most likely so consumers don't get confused, and then they have their version numbers just like any software does.

Windows 7 Is Actually Windows 6.1 By Version Know It Why

Windows XP is technically Windows 5.0, And Windows Vista is 6.0, and Windows 7 is 6.1. The 7 in Windows 7 is just the name of it, since vista was 6.0 they named it 7 (at least I think that's why it's Windows 7)

So both Windows 7 and Windows 6.1 are the same product, it's just 2 ways of referring to it.
