The mobile phone is rapidly becoming the smarter device, “the one device that seems to have it all and becomes even more indispensable than it is now”.

Suppose you were to design a smartphone with the aim of being adored by its owners. Here is a list of Nine Important Points that will decide what the phone is all about. Of course, these were the things that will makes the phone, Perfect.

Excellent Battery Life:

This is of paramount importance. I miss the days where phones would last for days on end. Nowadays you are lucky to get 24 hours. I would gladly have my phone a centimeter thicker if it lasted for a couple of days without needing charging. I appreciate that room has to be made for all the awesome new features and technical upgrades our phones get, but without a big battery what’s the point? You can get more info on my previous article on, Tips To Increase Battery Life Of Samsung Galaxy Ace and then on How To Effectively Increase Battery Life On Windows Phone.

9 Dream Features to Watch While Buying a Phone

It would also be nice to be able to use our phones as much as we want, without worrying about running out of power whilst we are away from the charger.

Impressive Display:

I think it is important for the screen to take up the whole front of a device so there is no wastage, except for thin Home, Menu, Back, and Search buttons. If you are going to make a phone large by filling it with powerful technology, at least make good use of the size you have created.

Good Sound:

Sometimes we want to watch YouTube videos or listen to music without headphones. We all hate our favorites being ruined by tinny speakers, and so a good sound system in the rear or front case of a phone never goes unappreciated.

Lightweight And Portable:

Mobile phone it’s in the name. Some of the new phones coming out are borderline minature tablets. A handset should be relatively lightweight and portable, and easy to fit in one’s hand. If you want big graphics, you may be better suited to a tablet.

Plenty Of Storage Space:

Though we keep on doubling up with storage capacity in phones, we always find a way to quickly use it up, whether with music, video, or just by being a photoholic. Upcoming phone’s should have big internal memory, perhaps 8GB as standard, with support for 32GB or even 64GB micro-SD cards. Phones are more media oriented than ever, and it makes sense that you can take around as much as possible.

No Bloatware:

Why should a complex process like rooting be needed to strip away the junk that runs on our phones? Android phones should be crisp and clean from the beginning, without SoundHound or HTC Hub installed by default. If we wanted that, we would seek it out for ourselves.

Designed to Last:

If someone is buying a state-of-the-art phone for an absurd amount of money, they want to be sure that it won’t go out of date in a hurry. With the way phones are being released at the moment this can happen quite quickly. An ideal phone would be miles ahead of other models, so you don’t feel behind with the times as quickly and get your money’s worth.

Improved Browsing:

Web browsing on mobile devices is far better than it was on WAP phones (remember those?) – but still far from perfect. Sometimes text-alignment when you zoom into pages can be a little off, and playing embedded Flash videos is pretty much hopeless. Improvements to these (and other) aspects of browsing would be lovely. (Though, of course, Flash videos will need to be replaced with another format.)

Fast Network Access:

The latest phones should make use of 4G where it is available. Some phones have slower network access rates than others, even some of the newest ones. An idealistic phone would make quicker switches between masts, and use the maximum network speeds available. It would also continue streaming without interruption, even if the connection shifts between speed modes, like 3G, HSPDA, and Edge.

If a phone held all of these aspects I am sure it would be a bestseller with outstanding reviews. As always if you have your own opinions, please go ahead and share them here as comments.

BlackBerry smartphones allow you to stay in touch with everything that matters to you while you’re on the go. Email, phone, maps, organizer, applications, games, the Internet and more. Some smartphones even include a media player and/or camera so you really have everything you need in one stylish device.

BlackBerry users know exactly where they’re going in life. We’re here to help you get there. This article is all about how to Load an Application Onto Your BlackBerry. Follow these step-by-step instructions and do it yourself next time.

To load applications onto your BlackBerry, you need to work closely with your PC. On your PC, you use an application called BlackBerry Desktop Manager (BDM), which comes on a CD along with your BlackBerry (or you can download BlackBerry Desktop Manager from this location). Application Loader is a mini application within BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

Step-by-Step Instruction On How To Load an Application Onto Your BlackBerry

If you have an employer-issued BlackBerry, your company might impose guidelines on what applications (if any) can and cannot be installed and uninstalled from your device. Be sure to familiarize yourself with your IT department's policy before attempting to install or uninstall software from a company-owned BlackBerry.

Accessing the Blackberry Application Loader:

After BlackBerry Desktop Manager is installed on your PC, do the following to access Application Loader:

  • 1. On your PC, select Start --> Programs --> BlackBerry --> Desktop Manager.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager opens.

  • 2. Connect your BlackBerry to your PC via your USB cable.

Doing so connects your BlackBerry to your PC. If successful, you see the password dialog box. If not, check to see whether the USB cable is connected properly to both your PC and your BlackBerry and then try again. If all else fails, contact your service provider, or contact your system administrator if you're an enterprise user.

  • 3. Enter your password.

This completes your BlackBerry-to-PC connection.

  • 4. On your PC, double-click the Application Loader icon in BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

The Application Loader Wizard welcome screen opens. At this point, you're ready to use the functions of Application Loader.

Using the Blackberry Application Loader:

To install an application onto your BlackBerry from your PC by using Application Loader, you first have to install that application onto your PC. The installation onto your PC varies, depending on which application you choose to install, so be sure to refer to the manual that comes with the application you choose.

After you get the application onto your PC, you need to locate the application's ALX file (a file with the .alx extension). The ALX file isn't the file that gets installed on your BlackBerry; rather, it tells Application Loader where the actual application file is located on your PC. You can usually find an application's ALX file in the folder where you installed the application on your PC.

After you download the application on your PC, you can install it on your BlackBerry by using Application Loader as follows:

  • 1. Launch Application Loader from BlackBerry Desktop Manager. (The Application Loader Wizard welcome screen appears.)
  • 2. Click the Next button.
  • 3. Enter your password, and then click Next.

If your handheld isn't connected properly, you see the Communication Port Selection screen. Connect your BlackBerry to the USB cable and make sure that the USB cable is connected to the PC. Then click Next.

The Handheld Application Selection screen appears. This screen lists the applications that are already installed on your BlackBerry.

  • 4. Click the Add button.

An Open file dialog box appears, which you use to locate the ALX file of the application you want to install.

  • 5. Locate the ALX file and then click Open.

You return to the Handheld Application Selection.

  • 6. Click Next.

Doing so brings up the confirmation screen, listing the application to be installed.

  • 7. Click Finish.

The installation process starts, and a progress window appears. When the progress window disappears — and if all went well — the application is on your BlackBerry.

Computers running Windows on a network must be part of a workgroup or a domain (Computers running Windows on home networks can also be part of a home group, but it's not required).

If you are planning to connect two or more computers on a workgroup. You must have an account on that computer (if you have a same user name and password on both computer, things will be much better).

Please note that, by default, windows XP machine will be a part of a workgroup “Workgroup” or “MSHOME”

Follow these steps to configure a different Workgroup name and if you are going to connect two or more PCs using a work group.

Open the System icon in the Control Panel. (Or) Choose Start→Control Panel→System. The System Properties dialog box appears. You can also right click on My Computer and choose properties, and there drop down to Computer Name, Domain and Workgroup settings and choose “Change Settings”.

Windows has made some wonderful strides since the debut of Windows 95. The operating system that brought us the Start menu and task bar was not the most secured one at the time, Things have gotten better since then. Windows 7 is stable, slick and intuitive.

There are general security tips that apply to all operating systems, of course, but each operating system platform provides its own security challenges. The following tips are tailored to Microsoft Windows 7.

Protect yourself in Windows 7 by practicing safe computing —after all, the best defence is often a good offense.

    Consider these safe-computing tips:

    • Windows comes with a built-in antispyware program, Windows Defender, but no antivirus program. You need to buy your own program and pay its subscription fees so that it will keep recognizing the latest viruses.

6 Essential Security Tips for Windows 7

    • Windows 7 comes with a backup program. For easy backups, buy a portable hard drive, and tell the program to use that drive for backing up your pictures, music, documents, and other important things on your PC.

    • Employ good email security practices. Make use of some basic email security tips to ensure you do not invite the bad guys to read your email, flood you with spam, and take advantage of you through phishing techniques.

    • Only open e-mailed attachments that you’re expecting. If you receive something unexpected from a friend, e-mail or phone to see whether he or she really sent you something. A virus may be sending that message from an infected PC.

    • If you receive an e-mail from a financial institution saying that something’s wrong with your account, and you need to fix the problem by clicking the link and entering your name and password, don’t do it. That e-mail came from a fraudster trying to trick you. Ignore it. If you have questions, visit the institution’s Web site by manually typing the link into your Web browser (do not click on the link that is provided in such email).

    • Disable unneeded services. Windows service is a long-running executable that performs specific functions and which is designed not to require user intervention. Windows services can be configured to start when the operating system is booted and run in the background as long as Windows is running, or they can be started manually when required. You should disable unneeded services which you think is not required for your operation, for example you can disable smartcard if you are not using it for authentication.

Installing Microsoft Windows 7 is only the first step to using it. If you stop there, you’re likely to run afoul of the various security threats roaming the wilds of the Internet. Make sure you take care to configure your system to best protect you against the dangers that lurk around every corner.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the most anticipated Android phone this year. I have a hard time believing Samsung Galaxy Nexus would be restricted to selling just the 16 GB version and not more. If they did though, they better not be trying to sell it for $300. $200 would be more in line with the 16 GB iPhone 4S.

For a while now, many of us have been disappointed with the lack of an SD slot on the Galaxy Nexus. With potentially only 16GB of internal memory, it's easy to see how a few movies and apps could eat that up in no time. So, what's the solution? Essentially, you have two options:

    • Cloud Storage
    • USB Hosting

I know most of you already know about cloud storage, but let me run through both real quick.

Cloud Storage: Cloud storage is the storage of your files and media on the "cloud", i.e. someone else's servers. You can read more about Cloud storage and the Advantages And Disadvantages To Cloud Storage in our previous post by following this location.

Cloud storage requires good data connection with unlimited usage,if you live on places where Internet is not so good. And the next best option to Cloud Storage is, one that's new with ICS and the Galaxy Nexus: USB Hosting.

USB Hosting: USB hosting was a feature introduced in Honeycomb on tablets. Now, with the release of Ice Cream Sandwich, the feature will be brought to phones as well!

So, what is USB Hosting? Most of the time, you hear it being mentioned when talking about game controllers, and yes, that potential is there. However, USB hosting allows you to do much more than just use your Xbox controller on your phone. It essentially allows you to plug in any USB storage device into your phone, as long as you have the right adapter.

The Galaxy Nexus, like many phones, has a micro USB port (well, technically, it's an MHL port but, you know). There are plenty of adapters out there that will connect a USB device to your micro USB port, and they're dirt cheap (here's one).

    So, when you combine this:

How To Get More Storage Space On Galaxy Nexus S

    with this:

How To Get More Storage Space On Galaxy Nexus S 2

You can easily have up to an extra 64GB of storage to access your movies and music when you need it. When you're done, you can unplug it and keep it in your pocket. You're not restricted to thumb drives either, you can plug in an SD reader or even a 1 TB portable hard drive if you wanted.

There's a disadvantage here, too, though, namely, that you have to carry a jump drive (or hard drive, depending on how much space you want) around.

Here is a Video Demo On How To use USB Hosting On Galaxy Nexus S

You can either upload your files to a cloud storage service like Dropbox or plug in a USB drive and access your files from there.

So, there you have it! If this post helped you, feel free to leave your comment here.

Facebook is one of the dominant social networking sites in the world. Facebook lets you create Friend Lists and share photos, videos, links, status updates, and much more with your friends. As you discover how this social networking site works, use this handy reference to help you find people on Facebook, communicate with friends, and figure out what to do as soon as you log in.

But chances are there for few who want to delete their Facebook profile for various reasons. And this post is to help you delete your Facebook account.

If you’ve ever tried to locate the Facebook passageway that takes you through the steps to permanently delete your account, you know it’s not easy to find. That’s because the popular social networking Web site doesn't present an obvious “delete my account” button.

Delete Your Facebook Account Step-by-Step Instructions 1

Deactivating your Facebook account is not the same thing as deleting it. While deactivating your profile makes it unavailable for searches or public viewing, Facebook still keeps all of your information in the hopes that you’ll reactivate — a process that’s instantaneous when you log back on.

If this seems a bit confusing, don’t despair. There is a fairly simple way to secede from the Facebook nation. Just follow these few steps.

Log on to your Facebook account.

While your Facebook page is visible (that is once you logged into the facebook profile that you wish to delete), (Click on the below link) or copy and paste this link into your Web address bar and click enter:

http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_accountDelete Your Facebook Account Step-by-Step Instructions

Read the text on this screen to make sure you understand what you are doing (how ever you don’t want to read, as this is just a way to make you alert that you are deleting your Facebook profile) and then click “Submit.”

Delete Your Facebook Account Step-by-Step Instructions_

The “Permanently Delete Account” screen will automatically pop up.

Type your Facebook account password, along with the security check words given on your screen, in the fields provided.

Delete Facebook Account Step-by-Step Instructions 1

That’s all there is to it. You should receive an e-mail from Facebook confirming that you’ve chosen to delete your account. The e-mail will also tell you that your profile’s been deactivated and will be deleted within the next 14 days.

If you’re not a do-it-yourselfer, you can e-mail Facebook and ask them to delete your account.

Send your request to privacy@facebook.com. If Facebook doesn’t respond, e-mail them again, but also send the e-mail to support@facebook.com and info@facebook.com.

During the two weeks you’re waiting for Facebook to delete your account, don’t log on to the site. Doing so will automatically reactivate your profile and you’ll have to go though these account deletion steps all over again.

If you want to make sure you don’t inadvertently rejoin Facebook, make sure you delete any site-related cookies and Web browser history. Also, don’t click on any Facebook links while you’re visiting other sites until the 14-day waiting period is past.

Education and children’s apps abound for Android devices.

Education and Children’s Apps for Android

The Rescue of Ginger ($0.99 US): The Rescue of Ginger, an interactive storybook, follows the adventures of Madera Monkey and Figaro Frog, who — in their superhero identities as Carbon Girl and Adhero — try to find Mrs. Applebottom’s missing cat, Ginger. Every page features cute hand-drawn art, animations, and numerous elements that you can interact with; six of the pages include activities based on size, color, or shape recognition.

TechMind Animal Sounds (free): Recognizing that some animals can frighten young kids, this app includes the option of hiding the image and sound of some of the scarier animals, like the bear and the wolf. TechMind Animal Sounds also has an option that launches Wikipedia when you tap the name of an animal.

Toddler Lock (free; ad supported): Toddler Lock is a simple drawing app for preschoolers. Drag your finger around the screen to draw neon-colored lines or tap the display to place multicolored shapes. Every time you touch the screen, the app plays music that sounds like wind chimes. This app “locks” your Android device so that no matter which buttons your youngsters start mashing, they won’t be able to access anything else on your device.

If Android can survive the tech tumult of next couple of years, it will leave the world a better place. At least for those who love technology and not just use it. That’s the real importance of Android.

In some situation, when plugging in any external USB hard drive or USB flash drives on your PC, will not be displayed (No drive letter will be assigned or displayed to your disk drive even after connecting to the USB Port) in the My Computer or Windows Explorer.

Drive letter assignment is the process of assigning alphabetical identifiers to physical or logical disk drives or partitions (drive volumes) in the root file system namespace; this usage is now mostly found in Microsoft operating systems.

When looking for attached hard drives, USB flash drives or CD and DVD drives using Windows Explorer, you may notice that some drives are not seen in Windows Explorer or the drive may disappear after a short time or when Windows resumes from Sleep or Hibernation.

This issue can be caused by any of the following issues:

    • Your drive does not have a drive letter assigned to it in Disk Management
    • The drive may be disabled or offline
    • Your USB driver may be corrupted
    • Corrupted registry keys may be causing issues with connecting toyour CD or DVD drive
    • To resolve the issue follow the steps below:

Method 1: Make sure that the drive has a drive letter assigned in Disk Management:

This method applies to Disk Drives, USB flash drives or CD and DVD drives.

If your hard drive, thumbnail drive, memory stick, or flash memory is recognized in Disk Management but not displayed in Windows Explorer, the drive may not have been assigned a drive letter by Windows.

    • Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and click System and Security.
    • Click Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management.
    • If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • Look for a drive that does not have an assigned drive letter and is not labeled as System Reserved.

The System Reserved drive is reserved by Windows.

    • Right-click the unlabelled drive and click Change drive letter and paths…
    • Click Add and then click OK to select the first available drive letter.
    • If the Change drive letter and paths… option is not available, make sure that the drive is Online.
    • If the drive is Offline, right-click the disk number and click Online.

For more information on Adding, changing or removing drive letters for Windows 7, click the link below to see the article on the Microsoft website:

Change, add, or remove a drive letter

For more information on Adding, changing or removing drive letters for Windows Vista, click the link below to see the article on the Microsoft website:

Change, add, or remove a drive letter

Method 2: Make sure that the disk drive is Enabled : This method applies to Disk Drives, and USB flash drives

If the drive has been Disabled the disk will not be visible in Windows Explorer. To see if the disk is Disabled, follow the steps below to Enable it:

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 users:

    • Click Start and type Device Manager in the Search box
    • Click Device Manager in the Control Panel list
    • Locate the Disk drives item in the list and click the small arrow to the right to expand the list of drives
    • If a disk drive is disabled you will see an icon with an arrow pointing down over the icon of the disk drive
    • If you see an icon with an arrow pointing down over the icon of the disk drive, double-click the icon and click the Enable Device button
    • Click Next on the Enabling a device dialog box, click Next, and then click Finish
    • Click Close and then close the Device Manager window

If you don't see your disk drive in the listed drives, the drive may not have been detected by Windows.

If you receive an error message when Enabling the disk drive, you may have a defective disk drive.

    For Windows XP Users:

    • Click Start then right click My Computer and click Properties
    • Click the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager
    • Locate the Disk drives item in the list and click the small arrow to the right to expand the list of drives
    • If a disk drive is disabled you will see a red X over the icon of the disk drive
    • If you see an icon with a red X over the icon of the disk drive, double-click the icon and click the Enable Device button
    • Click Next on the Enabling a device dialog box, and then click Finish
    • Click Close and then close the Device Manager window

If you don't see your disk drive in the listed drives, the drive may not have been detected by Windows.

If you receive an error message when Enabling the disk drive, you may have a defective disk drive.

Method 3: Make sure that the drive is Online: This method applies to Disk Drives

If the drive is currently Offline, the disk will not be visible in Windows Explorer. To check the current status of your disks, follow the steps below:

    • Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and click System and Security.
    • Click Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • Look for a drive that does not have an assigned drive letter and that is not labeled as System Reserved.

The System Reserved drive is reserved by Windows.

    • Right-click the drive and click Change drive letter and paths…Click Add and then click OK to select the first available drive letter.
    • If the Change drive letter and paths… option is not available, make sure that the drive is Online.
    • If the drive is Offline, right-click the disk number and click Online.

Method 4: Your USB drive may be corrupted. This method applies to Disk Drives, hard drives, USB flash drives or CD and DVD drives.

Your USB disk may be corrupted, to check for a corrupted disk, plug the disk into another computer to see if the disk is seen in Windows Explorer on that computer. Make sure that you have the driver installed.

If the device is still not seen in Windows Explorer on the alternate computer, the disk may be corrupted. Some hardware manufacturers do offer hardware testing software that may help to access and detect test for issues on their hardware. Visit the hardware manufacturers website and search for any helpful testing software.

Method 5: Corrupted registry keys may be causing issues with connecting to your CD or DVD drive. This method applies to CD and DVD drives

Corrupted registry keys may be causing your CD or DVD drive not to be seen by Windows. An automated Fix it is available to resolve this issue.

To run this Fix it, follow the steps listed in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: 982116 Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs.

iTunes is a free application for your Mac or PC. It lets you organize and play digital music and video on your computer. It can automatically download new music, app, and book purchases across all your devices and computers. And it’s a store that has everything you need to be entertained. Anywhere. Anytime.

Although iTunes was never meant to be a song editing application, it offers a simple control over the starting and stopping points for playing back a song. You can use this feature to cut out unwanted intros and outros of a song, such as announcers and audience applause. You can also use it in conjunction with the Convert feature to split a track into multiple tracks.

Step-by-Step Instructions on how to Set the start and stop points in a song on iTunes.

iTunes will play only a portion of a song if you specify start and stop times within the song. To set the start and/or stop points in a song, select the song and choose File, Get Info; then click Options to show the dialog that lets you specify the start and stop times.

Click inside the Start Time field to set the start time. Click inside the Stop Time field to set the stop time. The time is in minutes, seconds, and hundredths of a second (decimal) — 8:15.978 is 8 minutes and 15.978 seconds.

To determine with accuracy the time for the start and stop points, play the song and look in the Status pane at the top-center part of the iTunes window for the Elapsed Time. You can drag the slider in the Status pane to move quickly through the song and find the exact times for the start and stop points you want to set.

For example, in the below screen shot, I have made the song to stop at 40 Seconds. So, this particular Song will play only the first 40 Seconds. However, you can set any start and stop time (stop time should greater than start time).

Setting Start And Stop Points In A Song In iTunes

If you click Elapsed Time in the Status pane, it toggles to Remaining Time; click it again for Total Time, and click it once more to see Elapsed Time again.

iTunes plays only the part of the song between the start and stop times. You can use this feature to your advantage because when you convert the song, iTunes converts only the part of the song between the start and stop times.

iTunes lets you enjoy all your music, movies, videos, and TV shows on your Mac or PC. When you want to watch or listen to something, you no longer have to look through your CDs or flip through channels — just go to your computer and open iTunes. With your entire media collection in your iTunes library, you can browse everything faster, organize it all more easily, and play anything whenever the mood strikes.

Google Nexus S (Samsung Nexus S), is the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS powered device. The new Nexus S 4G will provide Google Voice features for Sprint customers. Google Nexus S is designed with Samsung’s brilliant Super AMOLED touch screen technology providing a premium viewing experience.

Most of you might be considering getting a Nexus S 4G, But the fact is that it doesn't have an external memory slot. The real deal is when you are planning to use Nexus S 4G as your primary mp3 player as well. Is space an issue if we wouldn't need to carry our entire music collection around us, so we don't need a mass amount of space. 16g would honestly be fine, but what about apps and stuff?

Well, I think 16GB is enough for most people. Just depends on how much music you want or need to keep on the phone.

Does The Internal Memory A Problem With Nexus S 4G

The next question that comes to the buyers of Nexus S 4G, is their a good chance this phone will continue to get updates for awhile or will it be entering End Of Live (EOL) soon.

But some are choosing to rely on a growing trend: cloud storage. If you are one who plan to use Cloud Storage, follow my other post to know the Advantages And Disadvantages To Cloud Storage.

The Nexus S 4G should receive updates for quite some time, so no need to worry about that. You know that the original Nexus One is still getting updates. That's the beauty of Nexus phones. If you are planning to get Nexus S 4G, it is sure that you'll get updates for a long time.

And talking about the music, if you need to store tons of music, consider Google music. All you need is a little desktop app and an android app and all your music will reside on the cloud. But it has some disadvantages as well, as you need to be using Internet for accessing the Music you need.

I had some concerns at first. But when i put it in the perspective of my former 4GB MP3 player. Google Nexus S was definitely enough for what I needed at any one time. But keep in mind the actual amount of space you will really have is about 14gb.

Thanks to deceptive marketing tactics used by the entire industry as relates to storage capacities you start with less than 16gb. Also the "internal" partition gets 1gb of the space.

In simple, On Google Nexus S, there is no optional 16GB Card or Card Slot, 16GB is what you get on Google Nexus S and that is plenty. Also there is an option for cloud storage. Just read more on the Advantages And Disadvantages To Cloud Storage on one of my earlier post.

Smartphones are a great alternative to laptops because they’re small, convenient, and ready to launch their Web browsers right away. Even more important, when you have a smartphone, you can access the Internet wherever you are — whether Wi-Fi is available or not.

Samsung Galaxy S can be lots of fun and can make you very productive. But only if you know how to use it. Whether this is your first time using a smartphone or your first time using a touch screen, this post will give you the information you need to get started.

All cellphones on the market today include basic functions, and even some entry-level phones are a little more sophisticated. Of course, Samsung includes all basic functions on the Galaxy S model. In addition to making and taking calls and sending and receiving texts, the Galaxy S sports the following basic features:

    Samsung Galaxy S

    • 5MP digital camera: This resolution is more than enough for posting good-quality images on the Internet and even 4 x 6" prints.
    • Ringtones: You can replace the standard ringtone with custom ringtones that you download to your phone. You also can specify different rings for different numbers.
    • Bluetooth: The Galaxy S phone supports stereo and standard Bluetooth devices. (See Chapter 3 for more on Bluetooth.)
    • High-resolution screen: The Galaxy S phone offers one of the highest-resolution touchscreens on the market (480 x 800 pixels).
    • Capacitive touch screen: The Galaxy S phone offers a very slick touch screen that’s sensitive enough to allow you to move the screen carefully, but not so sensitive that it’s hard to manage.

Taking Your Phone to the Next Level: In addition to the camera, High resolution touch screen, the Galaxy S phone has capabilities associated with many popular smartphones, such as the Apple iPhone and the phones based upon Windows Phone 7 OS:

    • Internet access: Access Web sites through a Web browser on your phone.
    • Photos: The phone comes with a camera, but also the ability to manage photos.
    • Wireless e-mail: Send and receive e-mail from your phone.
    • Multimedia: Play music and videos on your phone.
    • Contact Manager: The Galaxy S phone lets you take shortcuts from having to enter someone’s ten-digit number each time you want to call or text them. In fact, the Contact Manager has the ability to track all the numbers that an individual might have plus their e-mail address and photo. On top of that, it can synchronize with the Contact Manager on both your personal and work PC!
    • Digital camcorder: The Galaxy S phone comes with a built-in digital camcorder that records at a resolution that you can set, including HD.
    • Daily Briefing: The Galaxy S phone tracks your local weather, national news, your schedule, any alarms, and any relevant financial news.
    • Mapping and directions: The Galaxy S phone uses the GPS in your phone to tell you where you are, find local services that you need, and give you directions to where you want to go.
    • Business applications: The Galaxy S can keep you productive while you’re away from the office. I go into each of these capabilities in greater detail in the following sections. Internet access Until a few years ago, the only way to access the Internet when you were away from a desk was with a laptop.

The drawback to smartphones, though, is that their screen resolution is less than even the most basic laptop screen. Plus, image-heavy Web sites can take a long time to load. To accommodate this problem, more Web sites are adding mobile versions. These sites are slimmed-down versions of their main site with fewer images but similar access to the information on the site. These site names usually begin with m or mobile, such as m.yahoo.com.

On the Galaxy S phone, you can use the mobile version of a Web site if you want, but if you prefer to use the standard Web site, you can pinch and stretch your way to get the information you want.

    Photos:

The image application on your phone helps you use the digital camera on your Galaxy S phone to its full potential. Studies have found that cellphone users tend to snap a bunch of pictures within the first month of phone usage. After that, the photos sit on the phone (instead of being downloaded to a computer), and the picture-taking rate drops dramatically.

The Galaxy S phone image management application is different. You can integrate your camera images into your home photo library, as well as photo-sharing sites such as Picasa and Flickr, with minimal effort.

    Wireless e-mail:

On your Galaxy smartphone, you can access your business and personal e-mail accounts, reading and sending e-mail messages on the go. Depending on your e-mail system, you might be able to sync so that when you delete an e-mail on your phone, the e-mail is deleted on your computer at the same time so you don’t have to read the same messages on your phone and your computer.

    Multimedia:

Some smartphones allow you to play music and videos on your phone in place of a dedicated MP3 or video player. On the Galaxy S phone, you can use the applications that come with the phone, or you can download applications that offer these capabilities from Android Market.

    Samsung Galaxy S Review

Samsung Galaxy S can be lots of fun and can make you very productive. But only if you know how to use it. Whether this is your first time using a smartphone or your first time using a touch screen.

Acer always seems to bring something new with their netbooks, and it's no different this time around with the Acer Aspire One Happy 2 netbook.

This unit comes with a distinctively eye catching colour choice, features the Intel Atom N570 processor and has a dual boot feature allowing the user to boot either to the Windows 7 Starter edition or Android 2.3.1 OS.

Windows Or Android? Booting to the latter OS would be a useful option when you want to quickly perform a basic task, such as Web browsing, without having to go through the longer process of having to wait for the Windows OS to start up to access the required functionality.

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 Advantages And Disadvantages

The Acer Aspire One Happy 2 is a well built netbook with an eye pleasing design. It offers standard performance that is expected of a netbook and sells at an attractive price.

Outer Look: The Design: The Acer Aspire One Happy 2 model comes in four 'fruity' colours, namely Banana Cream, Strawberry Yoghurt, Blueberry Shake and Papaya Milk.

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 Advantages And Disadvantages 5

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 covers the back-lid, the power button and the touchpad and mouse button, the screen bezel had a white glossy finish (not all colours will have this). As is to be expected, the glossy areas do attract a lot of smudges and finger prints. Also, this netbook features the attractive droplet design on its backlid.

The power button is located at the top left corner right under the left hinge. Just like the Acer Aspire One 722 unit, this netbook's central section at the rear of the chassis - the area in between the two hinges - is slightly elevated and, as with the screen bezel, has a surface with a white glossy coating.

What Matters Inside:  The Features: The AO Happy 2's chassis is smooth-edged around the edges and corners and weighs in at 1.25 kg. While the netbook has a plastic finish, it has an overall good build quality. There was no noticeable flex on the main chassis body. Under a bout of intense typing, there was some slight flex felt on the keyboard area. This shouldn’t be taken as a downside, as when typing normally you don’t notice any flex on the keyboard area.

There is a webcam located at the top central section of the screen bezel. The speakers on the netbook are positioned along the left, central and right side of the frontal base.

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 also comes with a mobile charger like adapter - it's most notable features is the absence of the bricklike feature.

How You Look: Monitor: The 10.1-inch glossy screen has a native resolution of 1024x600 - as it to be expected, under certain lighting conditions, the glossy nature of the screen can be, at times, an irritant to viewing images on the screen.

The screen is bright, and the viewing angles are decent: you will notice the colour of the image on the screen darken from the bottom vertical viewing angle; you will get a rather lightened view of the images when looking from the top vertical angle; the  horizontal (left and right) viewing angles are comparatively better with only a slight colour distortion when looking at the screen from an angle of 60-70 degrees respective to the centre of the screen. Acer Aspire One Happy 2 screen can be tilted to almost 150-160 degrees backward - helping you to a certain extent in choosing the ideal viewing position relative to the screen.

Keyboard Usability : Acer Aspire One Happy 2 keys are rather elevated giving the impression that they're 'floating'.  When considering the netbook's form factor, the keys are sufficiently well spaced. To compensate for not having a dedicated numpad, the associated number keys are printed on top of existing alphabetic keys and can be accessed through the alternate key functionality.

The keys are overall responsive, although some users might find the tactile feedback to be a tad bit too hard.

The multi-gesture enabled touchpad has a smooth texture and is quiet responsive. The glossy mouse button is also responsive and firm. Acer continues in its tradition of providing the handy functionality for disabling the touchpad - this is done by pressing the Fn and F7 buttons.

Hardware: The Acer Aspire One Happy 2 features a dual core Intel N570 1.66GHz processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM, Intel GMA 3150 graphics and a 320GB (5400 RPM) hard drive.

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 Advantages And Disadvantages 4

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 features a standard collection of ports for a netbook. The netbook's left side has a USB 2.0 port, a 100Mbit Wired Ethernet port, a VGA port, the power connector, as well as the exhaust vent.

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 Advantages And Disadvantages 3

On the right side of the chassis are located the headphone and microphone jacks, a multi-card reader, a Kensington lock and two USB 2.0 ports. The netbook also features Wi-Fi 802.11 n and Bluetooth 3.0 wireless connectivity.  While it might be expecting too much of a netbook, I was rather disappointed that this netbook, unlike the AO 722, didn’t feature an HDMI port.

Software: The AO Happy 2 comes pre-installed with Windows 7 Starter Edition and Android 2.3.1 OS. In terms of software on the Windows section of this netbook, you will find the generic Acer software such as Acer eRecovery management, Acer Identity card, Acer Crystal Eye Webcam, Acer updater  and Acer configuration manager through which users can switch between the Windows 7 starter edition and Android OS.

Also included in the pre-installed software set are the McAfee Internet Security Suite trial edition, Norton Online Backup trial edition, newsXpresso, and Skype. Also read, how to Find And Clean Up Useless Icons And Programs From Your PC

Performance : The Acer Aspire One Happy 2 netbook should be able to get you through handling daily activities such as Web browsing, basic productivity work and listening to music without any issues.

While the Happy 2 unit did have problems handling 720p and 1080p videos, this should not be considered a major drawback to this unit given its intended usage. Playing YouTube videos, as well as streaming 480p videos, should proceed without any hiccups.

The AO Happy 2's speaker output levels are appropriate from a personal entertainment point of view - the overall sound is clear and pretty loud, but the bass levels are, as expected, low. Listening through a headphone would be the best option.

During testing, the Aspire One Happy 2 did tend to heat up. You notice the heat while touching the left base of the laptop that is adjacent to the exhaust vent - You don’t feel this heat on the palmrest area. The netbook gives a better account of itself in the system noise levels area - it was barely audible during operation.

Battery: The laptop's six-cell battery lasted for three hours and forty three minutes through one of our battery tests, at high performance mode, and having the wireless internet mode enabled. This result is an expected statistic - it was slightly higher.

You should be able to extract around 5-6 plus hours out of the AO Happy 2's battery - at a conservative power scheme - for doing lighter every-day work such as browsing the web and listening to music.

Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of Acer Aspire One Happy 2.

    Advantages:

    • Eye Pleasing Design
    • Good Build Quality
    • Attractive pricing

    Disadvantages:

    • No Visible Performance Boost
    • Netbook innards are not easily accessible

Disappointingly, Acer Aspire One Happy 2 doesn't provide any easy way of accessing the inner hardware components - the only easily accessible component is the removable battery. If regular users want to access the innards for purposes of either upgrading or repairing the unit, they are suggested to have Acer folks handle those procedures.

Acer Aspire One Happy 2 doesn't feature an HDMI port, while not exactly a downside, would have been a very helpful feature. Moreover, using the N570 processor doesn’t really translate to that great an improvement in performance.

    End Note:

The Acer Aspire One Happy 2, for its price range you get a decent netbook that is well built, sports an attractive design, and provides a standard performance. Additionally it offers users the choice of booting with Microsoft Windows 7 Starter edition or, for quicker access to functionality such as web browsing, Android 2.3.1.

So if you're looking for a lower priced netbook that covers all the bases when it comes to carrying out all the essential tasks that are expected of a netbook, the Acer Aspire One Happy 2 is a good candidate to consider.

It seems that everyone with a computer or mobile device spends a lot of time acquiring data and then trying to find a way to store it.

For some computer / mobile owners, finding enough storage space to hold all the data they've acquired is a real challenge. Some people invest in larger hard drives. Others prefer external storage devices like thumb drives or compact discs. Desperate few might delete entire folders worth of old files in order to make space for new information. But some are choosing to rely on a growing trend: cloud storage.

Cloud Storage: Cloud storage is the storage of your files and media on the "cloud", i.e. someone else's servers. There's a few services that offer this, the most famous being Dropbox (2GB+ free storage), but there are other options such as Minus (10GB+ free storage) and Box.net (idk how much free storage) as well. Then there's also specialized services such as Google Music and Amazon Music as well for, you guessed it, music.

Advantages And Disadvantages To Cloud Storage

There are a few advantages and disadvantages to cloud storage.

    Advantages

    • No need for extra hardware (i.e. SD card, thumb drive)
    • Convenient
    • Automatic synchronization
    • Um, I'm sure you guys can think of more, I'm drawing a blank right now

    Disadvantages

    • Requires constant connection, either via data or wifi
    • Potentially slow over 3G or weak Wifi
    • Streaming movies is difficult, if not impossible (at least with Dropbox, etc.)
    • Eats up a limited data plan quickly
    • While cloud storage sounds like it has something to do with weather fronts and storm systems, it really refers to saving data to an off-site storage system maintained by a third party. Instead of storing information to your computer's hard drive or other local storage device, you save it to a remote database. The Internet provides the connection between your computer and the database.

On the surface, cloud storage has several advantages over traditional data storage. For example, if you store your data on a cloud storage system, you'll be able to get to that data from any location that has Internet access. You wouldn't need to carry around a physical storage device or use the same computer to save and retrieve your information. With the right storage system, you could even allow other people to access the data, turning a personal project into a collaborative effort.

So cloud storage is convenient and offers more flexibility, but how does it work? Share your experience with us through your comments.

The HTC Radar is the latest smartphone to run Windows Phone 7.5, following on from the HTC Titan. With a smooth unibody design, HD video recording and 5MP camera.

The HTC Radar is a stunning piece of hardware. Like most other high-end HTC phones, it has a solid yet attractive unibody aluminium build. What makes it stand out, though, is its all-white color scheme. The white hardware is quite striking against the bold color-block look of Mango.

Measuring 4.74 by 2.42 by 0.43 inches and weighing 4.83 ounces, the Radar won't take up a lot of space in your pocket or bag, nor will it weigh you down. Despite the low price tag, the Radar feels sturdily made and durable.

The 3.8-inch display seems a bit on the small side when compared to the giant 4.3-inch and 4.5-inch displays we've seen on recent smartphones, but it is larger than the iPhone 4S's (at 3.5 inches).HTC Radar Advantages

Windows Phone Mango Is Delicious: For the most part, Mango looks and behaves similarly to the first version of Windows Phone 7, but it offers some very significant additions.

With Mango, you finally get true multitasking with third-party apps, as well as Internet Explorer 9. You can quickly switch among recently used applications by pressing and holding the back button. All of your open apps are elegantly displayed in chronological order based on when you last used them.

In the messaging app, you can easily switch between SMS, Facebook chat, and Windows Live Messenger within the same thread. This concept sounds helpful. But, AIM or Google GTalk integration would be much more useful.

All of your Hubs have been enhanced with sweet new features. For example, the People Hub connects Facebook, Twitter, Outlook, LinkedIn, and Windows Live Messenger in one place, so you don't have to jump from app to app to communicate with your friends and colleagues. You can also group and categorize your contacts based on how you think of them--friends, coworkers, enemies, or whatever.

The Picture Hub now has a tagging system, which simplifies the task of organizing your photos. When you share your photos on Facebook or SkyDrive, the Photo Hub automatically detects any photo of a person and asks whether you want to tag it. It doesn't handle face recognition, however, so it can't perform automatic tagging.

The Bing search engine gets a complete makeover. A new feature called Local Scout uses GPS to recognize where you are and then provides you with hyperlocal search results based on your preferences.

For Example: If you want to find a restaurant, Local Scout will list restaurants in the Eat+Drink guide that lie within a 25-mile radius of your current location.

    Music search Using Bing:

Another cool and useful feature in Bing is Music search. Hold your phone up to a speaker, and Bing will identify the track that's playing and give you information about the artist, the song, and where to buy it. Sort of like Shazam on iOS and Android.

Visual search resembles Google Goggles to some extent, except that it's built into the Windows Phone platform. Suppose that you're in a bookstore, you see a book, and you want to know more about it. If you point your phone's camera at the book's cover, Bing will search for reviews, prices, and more information about the book.

And of course, you get all of the great features of Windows Phone 7 such as Microsoft Office (you can create, edit, and view Excel spreadsheets, Word docs, and PowerPoint presentations), XBox Live, and the Zune media player.

The HTC Radar also has a few added apps, including Netflix, Slacker Radio, HTC Watch (for renting videos, a lesser Netflix), and the HTC Hub.

Windows Phone 7 in general is very fresh, interesting and very capable. Windows Phone 7 on HTC Radar is much more smoother and faster at tasks or opening apps.

In best Windows Phone/ Mobile tradition, you get a mobile version of MS Office too — letting you edit and create documents on the move. And praise be, Windows Marketplace is now officially accessible, letting you access and download apps. Oh, and if you are missing HTC's Sense interface, just hit the HTC Hub tile to get the typical HTC Clock and weather, with news and stock updates.

    Major Disadvantages:

The Radar's hardware includes two let downs: Its non removable battery and its limited storage capacity (there's no Micro SD slot)--8GB of ROM and 512MB of RAM.

Fortunately, you get 25GB of free cloud storage via Microsoft SkyDrive, so you can upload some of your photos, videos and music there.

The sound quality of the device was well above average and watching video on it was fun as well. The camera is an exceptional performer in the stills department and the Photo Enhancer app lets you add Instagram-like effects.

There are a few flaws — Bluetooth file transfer still does not work in most cases (please check this option in case if you are buying this mobile), not all tasks resume from where you left them off in multi-tasking mode, not all contacts show up in the messaging application, and apps remain relatively few when compared to iOS and Android — but honestly, we think that Windows Phone 7.5 has arrived as a contender in the smartphone business. And the HTC Radar is a good ambassador for it.
